Have Your Coffee And Drink It Hot, These Perth Cafes With Playgrounds Are Worth Bookmarking

Let’s be honest—no matter how much you love your little humans, going out for a coffee with kids in tow can be... a lot. Between spilled babycinos and escape attempts mid-toastie, it’s not always the relaxing experience you’d hoped for. That’s why finding a cafe with a playground is a game changer.

We’re talking quality coffee, food worth ordering again, and a dedicated play area where your kids can burn off energy while you actually get to finish a hot drink. Sound like a dream? We’ve rounded up the best cafes around Perth that come with built-in playgrounds, so you can caffeinate in peace while they climb, slide and swing their way to nap time.

115 Collective

869 Connolly Dr, Merriwa WA 6030

Great coffee? Tick. Excellent eats? Tick. Enclosed playground? Tick, tick, tick. There’s not much more you could ask for from a kid-friendly cafe, and yet 115 Collective still manages to go above and beyond. My friend Ellen has an adorable but very active one-year-old who is definitely not one for chill time and sitting still. She says the best bit about this place is she gets her caffeine hit (which she so desperately needs) while her toddler is free to run wild in the fenced in nature play area.

The menu is next level—s’mores pancakes, smoky BBQ pulled pork quesadillas, and buttermilk fried chicken served with cornbread waffles, sriracha maple, charred corn and avo salsa. And, of course, there’s a kids menu, stacked with classics like pancakes, eggs on toast, and junior cheeseburgers.

Little T’s

732 Karrinyup Rd, Balcatta WA 6021

Whether you’re chasing a quick coffee, a bite to eat, or a proper brekky, Little T’s makes it easy—especially if you’ve got toddlers to drag along. There’s a playground right outside, so you can order up and let the little ones burn off some energy while you soak up a few minutes of peace (and drink your cappuccino without any sticky hands reaching for the foam).

My friends with young kids rave about this place for its no-fuss vibe. It’s the go-to for my friend Annmarie and her husband—locals with two busy boys—who know they can swing by for their Sunday breakfast without worrying about the kids getting bored. It’s casual, convenient and just works when you need a cafe that actually understands what dining with kids is like.

Slate Café

4 Dulwich St, Bennett Springs WA 6063

You’ve probably heard Slate Cafe praised as one of Perth’s best dog-friendly cafes—and it totally is—but it’s just as much a dream for parents. Set on a sprawling property in the Swan Valley, this family-run spot nails the balance between good food, great coffee and plenty of space for the kids to run wild.

There’s an indoor playground complete with a mini rock climbing wall, plus an outdoor nature playground and a huge grassed picnic area where the kids can burn off some energy post-brekky. If your little ones are a bit wary of dogs, no stress—the dog playground is fully enclosed so they can admire the pups from a distance.

As for the menu? Expect fresh, locally inspired bites that showcase the best of the Swan Valley, from brunch classics to hearty lunch fare, all served in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

The Little Banksia

78 Banksia Terrace, Kensington WA 6151

This cosy Kensington gem might not have a full-blown playground, but the charming little playroom definitely earns it a spot on this list—especially if you’re after a more meltdown-free morning out. Nab the big table inside the playroom and you’ll be able to keep a watchful eye on your little one while tucking into some of Perth’s best pancakes (seriously).

The cabinet is always loaded with amazing looking treats, and the seasonal specials are where it’s at—the last time I was hereI had the dreamiest bowl of proper porridge topped with pistachio cream, washed down with a matcha strawberry latte. What can I say, I get hooked on a limited time special.

The team here prides themselves on fresh, locally inspired fare with a seasonal all-day menu that caters to gluten-free, vegan and vego diners. They also pour a mean brew courtesy of Leftfield Coffee Roasters, so you know you’re in good hands on the coffee front too.

Laika Coffee

11 Lathlain Pl, Lathlain WA 6100

If you take your coffee seriously but also need somewhere that works with the chaos of family life, Laika is the spot. Known for their obsession with specialty beans and flawless pours, this airy, design-led café serves up some of Perth’s best brews without compromising on family-friendly vibes.

While you won’t find toys or a playground here, the open courtyard and on-site basketball court make it a winner for older kids who just need some space to move. It’s perfect for everything from casual brunches to work catch-ups, with plenty of room to spread out—even the family pup is welcome.

Laika’s coffee game is strong, with two house blends always on offer and a rotating selection of espresso and filter options from standout local and international roasters. Come for the coffee, stay for the relaxed energy.

And while we’re here, Little Laika in Karrinyup is also worth a mention—it pretty much looks straight onto the shopping centre’s alfresco playground (wildly popular), so you can sip while the kids play.

Koorak

37 Kings Park Rd, Kings Park WA 6005

Parents of Perth know the drill—when you want good coffee and an epic playground in one hit, Koorak in Kings Park is the answer. Tucked beside the Ivey Watson Playground (easily one of Perth’s best for little ones), this cafe is a firm favourite for anyone with kids under six in tow.

Grab a coffee and a bite, then let the kids go wild on the fully enclosed play area while you soak up the sunshine and leafy surrounds. And if they’ve still got energy to burn after that? Take a wander through the parklands or head to the nearby Rio Tinto Naturescape for streams, log climbs and a good excuse to delay heading home just a little longer. Honestly, it doesn’t get more wholesome than this.

Runyeh Coffee

11/99 Caridean St, Heathridge WA 6027

How is it even possible to combine next-level coffee, knockout eats and genuinely kid-friendly times? Runyeh pulls it off effortlessly—and that’s exactly why it’s always heaving.

Brought to you by Josh McGinnity (the original brains behind Hylin and Laika), this northern abode is a must for serious coffee lovers. With house-roasted blends, rotating single origins, and bottomless batch on pour, caffeine is well and truly covered. Pair that with a Reuben But Different or the cult-status Double Sausage English Muffin and you’ve got a breakfast worth crossing town for.

Parents will appreciate the cute little play space out the back, complete with shade sails for those warmer days. It’s the perfect sweet spot between grown-up café culture and a low-key morning with the kids.

Lark

58 Brighton Rd, Scarborough WA 6019

Lark feels like one of those best-kept secrets parents whisper about at daycare drop-off—and once you know, you know. Open Tuesday to Saturday, this family favourite delivers great coffee (Five Senses, of course), crowd-pleasing food, and all the little touches that make a cafe work when you’ve got the kiddos.

There’s an enclosed playground plus a massive nature play area just outside, not to mention unique indoor nooks if the weather turns. Parking’s a breeze, and the whole style is relaxed and welcoming—no judgment if your toddler’s on their third babycino before 9am.

Food-wise, you’re in for a treat. Think house-made cakes (the carrot cake is legendary if it’s on), a full English brekky for under $20, and fresh-baked scones the size of your fist. My friend Jess takes her little rugrat here on the regular and couldn’t rave about it anymore if she tried.

Nourish and Feed Kingsley

5/9 Moolanda Blvd, Kingsley WA 6026

With five locations across Perth and a cult following to match, Nourish and Feed has nailed the art of healthy food that actually tastes amazing—and comes out fast. But we’re here to shout out their Kingsley spot, which is a total win for parents.

My friend Emma has two boys who keep her on her toes and swears by this one. There’s a small indoor play space perfect for under-fives, with plenty to spark imaginative play while you sit down with a coffee (which, by the way, is excellent).

The menu is packed with fresh, wholesome eats made from scratch—think nourish bowls, wraps, smoothies and raw treats—so you can refuel without the post-cafe food coma. So if you're popping in after daycare drop-off or catching up with friends, it’s a fuss-free favourite for health-conscious parents.

The Acai Corner

Sir James Mitchell Park

Okay, so it’s not really a cafe—but when the views are this good and the bowls this delicious, we’re making an exception. Sitting pretty on the South Perth foreshore, The Acai Corner is a go-to for parents wanting a casual bite with plenty of room for the kids to roam.

Urban List’s own Travel and Entertainment Editor Renée Ardon-Coppinger swears by it: “Although it’s not technically a cafe, my go-to spot to lay down a rug and let my little man crawl is The Acai Corner. There’s a huge playground nearby for busy babes to explore while parents can grab a peanut butter bowl and manage a little bit of peace and quiet.”

So pack that rug, grab a smoothie or açai and soak up the river breeze while the kids go wild on the playground. Bliss.
