Nestled in the rolling hills of Denmark in WA’s Great Southern, Upland Farm is the environmentally-conscious and beautiful farm stay you need to add to your travel hit list.
The four architecturally designed timber-clad eco cabins sit pretty on 107 acres of working cattle farmland—giving you sweeping views from all angles and some dazzling star gazing when the sun goes down.
Immense time and thought has gone into every single detail and honestly, it’s a little mind-blowing how amazing all the features are. Each of the one and two bed cabins feature contemporary, farmhouse decor throughout that perfectly compliments the non-stop vistas that surround you.
Plus, super comfy king sized beds, French linen and mod cons like a smart TV, washer-dryer, and all the kitchen appliances you could need. Depending which cabin you stay in, you'll also find beautiful bath moments and some stellar outdoor firepits too.
The wondrous idea of Upland Farm was conjured up by Tyrone and Shelley Kennedy. Quite the dream team, Tyrone led the construction of the home, while Shelley cleverly captured the essence of the landscape within the colour tones of the interior design. And architect Nikki Ross helped make the most of the incredible sights, wrapping the property in glazed windows to provide 360 degree views and loads of light, without compromising on warmth.
The Kennedys have also been sure to tick all the eco boxes too. They collect their own rainwater and the wood fires are run purely off already fallen trees on-site. There’s also compost bins tucked neatly away on the property, which significantly reduce the property’s landfill. Plus, Upland Farm will eventually have a supply of fresh produce grown on-site for you to munch on.
The working farm is open for you to explore but did we mention that you’re also a mere 15 minute drive from the town of Denmark? So when you are finally ready to leave the secluded surrounds of Upland Farm, we suggest you jump in the car and tick off all these top things to do in Denmark.
A little warning: you’ll want to plan ahead for this one. We’re not the only ones who have discovered just how incredibly breathtaking Upland Farm is, so make sure you book this one at least a few months in advance. And don’t forget to say hello to Banjo, the adorable Border Collie, while you’re there!
And if you love this, you have to check out this beautiful Toodyay homestead.
