The Spookiest Events Around Perth To Hit For Halloween This Year

Pumpkin spice has finally made its way down under, TikTok’s flooded with costume ideas, and the decorations are starting to come out onto front porches, as Perth takes spooky season and makes it its own. With Halloween landing on a Friday, there’s no excuse to stay home guarding the candy bowl.  

Whether you’re planning something chill with friends or the kids, or want a proper night out, Perth’s got a solid lineup of costume parties, twilight markets, club events, haunted tours and fam-friendly raves that’ll actually be worth skipping trick or treating for.

Chuck E. Cheese BOO-TACULAR Celebrations

If you thought Chuck E. Cheese was already mildly scary, just wait until you see him in full Halloween mode. Perth’s only playzone of its kind is going full BOO-TACULAR, with celebrations kicking off from Friday 31 October to Saturday 1 November. Chuck E comes out as usual every hour for a dance-a-long party, but this time his moves are halloween themed! Limited-edition Halloween pizzas and sides, Plus ink face painting, best-dressed prizes, and lolly bags on entry from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

The Claremont’s turning up on fam fun with a trick-or-treat train, roaming entertainers, and a disco dance party for the littles from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. If you’re scrambling to get a last minute costume, don’t fret: there’s free face painting, and a spooky craft workshop on deck to save your last minute efforts. Basically, a guaranteed way to burn the kids’ energy while you sit back and take in the spooky vibes.

If you’re a fan of 13 Going On 30, this function is exactly the vibe of the classic romcom’s halloween party. After the kids are done dancing, from 7.00pm The Claremont Hotel turns into a throwback Halloween party channeling that iconic Thriller dance scene with all your favourite nostalgic bangers. Old-school tunes with a crowd that actually knows the lyrics, and a dance floor that doesn’t quit. The best part? Gangster glamour with secret speakeasy vibes? Step into the shadows and live your Gatsby fantasy, as The Woodbridge transforms into a Bootleg Bar for Halloween. It’s proper 1920s, peaky blinder-esc, with gangster glamour themed dress, a secret menu of cocktails, and live music all night. Friday brings smooth grooves from Touche (a reggae, funk, and R&B band), while Saturday has a swing band straight out of the roaring 20s.

If your vibe is more cute and spooky, this Paint & Sip might be the move. Trade carving knives for paintbrushes at this Halloween-themed art night, where you’ll paint your own Halloween pumpkin, drink in hand. Art equipment is supplied, but it’s BYO on the drinks front, so you can bring whatever spooky cocktail mixes and candy you like. After two hours of guided painting, you’ll leave with a new piece of Halloween decor that isn’t another themed object from Kmart.

Forget the Addams family, this Halloween it’s all about the Connies family, with an all-night halloween party going down at Connections Nightclub. In typical Connections fashion, expect plenty of camp energy with your horror. Stay past midnight and Perth drag icons like Miss Cara, Moesha, Bush Rat, Lucy Lovegun, Sexy Bin Chicken and Delvira Midnight take the stage at 1am for a spooky cabaret-esque show; if there’s anyone that can eat up a look for Halloween, it’s these divas!

The Court’s Family Grave Day

A rave you can take the kids to? Nope, we aren’t tricking. Family Rave Day turns The Court into a daytime dance party on Saturday 1, with DJs, stilt walkers, inflatables, and face painting for all ages. There’s a silent disco setup, plus a sensory zone for the littles, and a solid food menu for when you hear the inevitable “I’m hungrryyyy!” Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to Telethon, which makes it an even sweeter treat.

If trick-or-treating isn’t your vibe but you still want to do something festive, the Twilight Market is somewhere where you can still fill up your buckets full of goods. There’s over 80 local stallholders selling handmade jewellery, art prints, trinkets and home decor. You won’t go without your sweet treat fix either, with food trucks serving up desserts like creme brulee and chocolate drenched strawberries. It’s free, family-friendly, and the atmosphere gets really cozy once the sun sets and the lights come on.

Halloween at Metros just gets bigger and better every year. Prepare for a wait, because last year lines were around the block for this one, but for good reason. The whole venue turns into a haunted mansion, with DJs blending drum and bass with classic sing along tunes, so the energy is somewhere between a rave and a halloween movie set. With a $200 prize for best dressed, it’s worth putting effort into your outfit, and you get free entry before 9.00pm if you’re dressed in costume.

For a next level Halloween, Seasons is your best bet. Think terrifying haunted mazes and spooky karaoke. This year, it’s heading to Ozone Reserve, and has brought along Meduza to headline (the trio behind Piece of Your Heart, Lose Control, and Paradise!). There’s a huge ‘Temple of Sin’ mainstage, roaming demons, tarot readers, confession booths, carnival rides, karaoke inside a church, and even a setup called Hell’s Kitchen serving vegan inclusive bites. It’s definitely more of an immersive experience than your basic  music festival, so biggest tip? Don’t turn up fashionably late, because with so much to see and do you’ll spend half the night in lines.

Trunk Or Treat At Valley Social

This is the ultimate low-effort, but cute way to spend Halloween with the fam. Locals deck out their car boots with decorations and hand out candy to kids who wander between them in costume. There’s a prize for the best-decorated car and plenty of food and drink options on site for parents. It’s wholesome, community-driven, and easy to get involved in. Just grab a costume, some lollies, leave your car boot open, and you’re ready to celebrate.

The Inglewood Hotel is totally on board the Halloween theme, with decor, spooky cocktails, and late night DJ sets to keep Halloweekend rolling.  The $10 bloody vodka slushies are scarily easy to get down, and the crowd’s a mix of locals and pub regulars who know how to have fun without taking it too seriously. If you’re looking for a low effort costume, face painters are on hand from 7.00pm. But, if you're well prepared, the team at The Inglewood  is handing out prizes for the scariest, funniest and most creative costumes. With a loop of classic scary movies playing across the venue, it’s a more lowkey way to spend halloween in Perth.

Taking Back Saturday Halloween At The Rechabite

The Rechabite is throwing an all-night emo and pop-punk party, which they describe as ‘Emo Christmas.’ Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! songs will be blasting back to back, so expect the dancefloor to turn into one big throwback singalong. Of course, there’s a prize for best dressed costume, but fair warning, you’ll need to upgrade those animal ears to something a little more hardcore for a chance to win!

The Court is having their official adults-only Halloween party on Saturday night, called ‘Nightmare in Northbridge’. There’s sweet treats like spooky popcorn and fairy floss, plus themed cocktails like a Banshee Brew and Ghostly Goblet. The cherry on top is the throne photoshoot corner, to reveal your outfit to the IG grid. With events all Halloweekend, The Court won’t lack in theming, so make sure to go all out with your costume  so you match their spooky energy.

Caballitos' Halloween Carnival Of Chaos

Caballitos is back with a spooky bang this Halloweekend, so lock in for two days of music, mystique, and mayhem. Friday’s ‘Freak Show’ will see the underground tequila bar transformed into a carnival of tarot booths, face painting, and scarily cheap cocktails ($5 frozen Margs, anyone?), while Saturday’s ‘Day of the Dead’ kicks off with pole dancers and more face painting, followed by bottomless Mexican food for $75pp and $12 Margaritas all night. They’ve got the salt, the limes and plenty of tequila, so venture down to Perth’s original tequila bar this weekend from 4pm (free entry) to celebrate their biggest Halloween yet.

For those who want an actual fright (not just jump scares from your bank balance after a night out), Escape This has two of Perth’s most loved, haunted escape rooms. ‘The Haunting’ and ‘The Possession’, both have creepy storylines, hidden actors ready to jump out at you, and pitch-black rooms that make it hard to tell what’s real and what’s part of the game. Grab your whole friend group and make a night of it; between the screaming, swearing, and problem solving, you’ll probably come out feeling very bonded with whoever you got locked in with.

Brave A Torchlit Tour Of Fremantle Prison

If you’ve never done a night tour at Fremantle Prison, Halloween is the perfect excuse. It’s creepy, without being gimmicky, as professional tour guides take you through dimly lit cells, gallows, and tunnels. There’s hourly sessions to book kicking off after 6.30pm, all telling the real stories of executions gone wrong, and the inmates who never quite left the building.
