Hey everyone down there! It’s us! The Buderim folk on top of the mountain! And do we have a foodie trail like no other.
Buderim is a big place. It’s a mountain! There’s even a rainforest with its very own rainfall, and all this just a few minutes from the beach.
So if you’re wanting a break from those seaside bistros, and seeking a friendly, country village vibe (but we’re pretty trendy too… don’t let those retirement villages fool you), then come and say hi to the people in the sky!
Just a little side note: leave the towels and swimsuits at home, people are a little posh this side of town. But hey, beyond the beach attire you’re pretty safe. You’re still on the Coast after all!
Make it in time for a daytime feast, and you’ll be spoilt for choice with our picks of the best restaurants in Buderim for lunch.
Hungry Feel Eating House
Yes, yes, yes! You know you’ve struck gold when you find an establishment where anything on the menu exceeds expectations. You’re in safe hands here. And no, this is not the same ol’ fare you see everywhere else (*yawn*). At Hungry Feel, when your plate arrives, you know you have a super cool experimental chef working that kitchen.
The motto here is “good food, served well”, so think: quality ingredients, salads garnished with fresh figs, desserts such as a plate of tasty cheeses (we’re all about the the local Camembert from Woombye Cheese Co) or the lemon balm panna cotta. Try the sweet corn fritters, Thai-style shredded beef shin—or heck, just go straight for the sage-crumbed calf liver. Then wash it all down with a fresh beer, cider or wine. Health nuts: try the spicy beetroot juice. Yolo!

Harry’s on Buderim
Everyone’s had an anniversary, birthday or graduation lunch at Harry’s. It’s that kind of place you go when you want something a little more spesh. You know, like almond and herb crusted Bangalow pork, grilled wagyu rump (with a 9 marble score, of course) or the handmade pappardelle (that’s pasta, darling). And for dessert there’s soufflé of the day, pudding, or why not try the Valrhona chocolate oblivion? It comes with candied beetroot and ginger bread ice cream—GINGER BREAD ICECREAM, people!
Just a stone’s throw from Buderim Village, Harry’s sits at the foot of rainforest tranquillity right at Buderim Forest Park. But it’s not all modern, clinical white walls here (thankfully!). This charming building, which is one of the suburb’s earliest (built in 1892), comes complete with wide floor boards, fireplace, and wrap-around verandah. Take your girlfriend here and you’ll nab serious brownie points. You’re welcome!

The Shak Organic Cafe & Wine Bar
It’s true, we mention The Shak a bit, but these guys are worth the groupie-love. And they are arguably one of the best foodie houses in Buderim. Think fine-dining hippie food. With up-to-the-minute, on-trend, all-healthy hipster fare, it’s no wonder this is the place to hang for uni students, health junkies, and those groovy adult types who never seem to age (they probably look young because they live on the chairs here—makes sense).
So if you want paddock-to-plate type organic fare and a fully-licensed bar (now, we’re talking!), then grab your man bun, your beard if you have one, or just whatever floats your boat, and make The Shak your new man cave or she-shed! (*Tarzan cry*)

Funky Frog Bistro
You don’t eat here ‘cause it’s cool, you eat here ‘cause Funky Frog Bistro’s lunch menu is packed with drool-worthy, high-end French dishes that are too good to resist. Formerly fine-dining establishment Le Baroque, this Buderim restaurant has a casual ambience but is totally serious when it comes to the food. Think duck confit, bacon and egg baguettes and home-made pastries. S’il vous plait!
With hilarious theme nights such as “Funky Frog Goes to Paris” and jazz events where locals dance the night away, these guys sure know how to throw a good time! Sit alfresco in the courtyard featuring classic Parisian wicker chairs and watch the world go by while sipping a champers or cappuccino. The seats always fill up, so don’t forget to book for special occasions. Très bien!

There’s pubs and then there’s pubs, if you get what I mean. And Buderim Tavern is world-class. With panoramic coastal and country views, several large bars (important!), a big cosy fire place to warm the loved-up couples, and family-friendly dining, this tavern really hasn’t skipped a beat when catering to errybody. And there’s even some lovely outside nooks with even more spectacular views if you want to sip a few in the fresh air, and escape the busyness of the tavern.
The fare is upmarket steakhouse with premium steaks, and options such as the twice-cooked pork belly, duck breast and wagyu lasagne. And of course the usual pub grub (wouldn’t be a pub without it!); fish and chips, parmis, pastas, and overflowing salads.
