Well folks, the last month of winter is finally here. The days are getting longer, the temperature is creeping back up, and we are ready to start working off those extra kilos. If you’re looking to make the most of the last days of winter on the Coast, then be sure to check out these 17 epic events happening on the Sunshine Coast this August. 

Mumma’s Rooftop Barre Session

If you like pilates as much as you like rooftop bars, then this fun rooftop barre class for mums and bubs will be perfect for you. Join nutritionist, pilates instructor, and mum Georgia Nike for a 45 minute ‘buggy barre’ session, where you can use your pram as your ballet barre! Bubs can be worn in a carrier or can sit in the pram while you get a full body workout. After your sweat sesh, you will be treated to a brunch hosted by ‘Two Point Oh’, as well as a nutrition workshop. Pilates, babies, and food? Sounds pretty good to us.

Sound Crowd- Sing Out Loud

Come on, admit it. You sing in the shower. Don’t worry, we all do it. But, if you consider yourself a pro at singing in the shower, then you may want to check this out. Sound crowd is a community choir that sings well-loved contemporary songs with a drink in hand. Sounds like a normal Friday night, right? If this sounds like your cup of tea, then join the Sound Crowd for their monthly sing along in the Imperial Hotel Eumundi’s Brewery. Get ready to belt out some boozy ballads.

Art Expo Buderim Craft Cottage

The Buderim Craft Cottage is opening an exhibition full of eye-catching and unique paintings by their Painting Group. The artwork will be available for purchase, and there will also be raffle prizes, a hamper, and a framed watercolour by local artist Tony Lewis up for grabs. Oh, and there’ll be delicious hand-made cakes, tea and coffee available too. After all, cake and art is the perfect way to while away a weekend afternoon.

Noosa Junction Twilight Market

We love a good market as much as the next person, but when the foodie hub of the Sunshine Coast hosts a twilight market, you know it’s going to be good. Really good. Well, if you have high expectations, the Noosa Junction Twilight Markets will not disappoint. With street food vendors, artisan stalls selling fine art and crafts, live entertainment and a pop up bar with happy hour prices all night, all your twilight market dreams will come true.

Nambour Retrofest

Brought to you by Retro Rocks Nambour and the Nambour PCYC, the Nambour Retrofest is an annual event that is loved by locals. With Motoring Jamborees, twilight car cruises, High School hop dances, pinup competitions, fashion parades and vintage car and bike shows, this is the perfect event for anyone who loves all things vintage and retro.

Noosa Open Studios

This unique experience will be perfect for anyone who loves art. Noosa Open Studios allows viewers to engage with professional artists as they work on their creations. Over 60 local artisans and artists across the Noosa region will open their studios to the public for ten days. If you’re looking for your next art fix or just love watching people create something amazing, then you’ll have a blast. Be sure to grab some treats from the pop up café!

Sunshine Coast Marathon

A much loved event for both local running enthusiasts and interstate and international marathon fanatics, the Sunshine Coast Marathon is coming back again this August. With a range of courses for all running abilities, ages and skill levels, there’s an event for everyone. There will also be sports stalls selling active wear, sports and health products, and offering post-run massages. Whether watching or competing, you will have a great time getting involved, and all proceeds go to the Ronald Macdonald Foundation. Win win.

Gympie Music Muster

Australia’s favourite outdoor country music festival is back and bigger than ever. Held in the beautiful Amamoor Creek State Forest, this iconic music festival is well known for its good times and good music. Showcasing the best of both Aussie and international country music talent, the music muster will have something for everyone. With a talent search, music workshop stalls, arts and craft, and delicious food vendors, the music won’t be the only thing worth stopping by for.

King Of Craft Beerfest

Beer lovers unite! A brand new craft beer festival is coming to the coast, and it’s going to be amazing. This festival will be a celebration of local craft beers, including favourites from Land & Sea Brewery, Your Mates Brewery, and Diablo Ginger Beer. As well as beer, there’ll be delish food, live entertainment, and whiskey on offer, so it’s guaranteed to be a great time for both food lovers and beer lovers (so…everyone).

Peppers Noosa 2018 Black Tie Charity Dinner

Peppers Noosa Resort and Villas is hosting a Black Tie Charity Dinner this August. With special guest Rosie Batty, a three course meal and drinks package, live entertainment, silent auctions and raffle prizes up for grabs, this is sure to be a great night. All proceeds assist with domestic violence emergency housing and support networks on the Sunshine Coast. Filling your belly for a good cause is one of the best things you can do.

Noosa Craft Beer Festival

We really lucked out this month. We have not one, but TWO craft beer festivals hitting our coastal shores this August. What did we do to deserve this? If you’re up the northern end of the coast, be sure to check out the Noosa Craft Beer Festival. Hosted by the Noosa Reef Hotel, this festival will be a celebration of local, national and international craft beer. There will be local food trucks serving up a rage of delicious eats, as well as live entertainment all day. Tickets will only set you back five dollars, so it’s really worth the investment.

Iron Man 70.3

Well…this is one way to shed those extra winter kilos. The Sunshine Coast’s Iron Man 70.3 will return to Mooloolaba’s shores this August and it’s sure to be a thriller. If you’re not too keen on competing yourself, then it’s still worth checking out the competition for some high octane excitement and some chiselled beach bodies. Then, after all that watching, go reward yourself with a well-deserved lunch from one of Mooloolaba’s delicious restaurants. You deserve it.

Noosa Classic

The award winning team behind the Bowral Classic is bringing some cycling fun to the Sunshine Coast with the upcoming Noosa Classic. Marcoola Market

Ahhh, we do love a good twilight market. And when it comes to twilight markets, not many do it better than Marcoola. Get your pals together for a delicious Friday night sesh, you won’t regret it.

Caving At Currimundi

The first of its kind in Australia, the Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre is home to 150 metres of amazing artificial caving. Armed with a head torch to explore the maze of complex passages, participants can explore the caves in groups, with an instructor who will help guide you through. The artificial caves replicate the natural features of real caves, so you can explore the underground mazes without any of the risk!
