Ok so it might feel like every other day there is a new streaming service popping up and to be honest, it can be a smidge overwhelming. Right now however we’re digging newbie Apple TV+ which hit the market earlier this month. While its offerings are considerably slimmer than the others, it has some serious star power behind it including Jennifer Aniston’s first foray back to the small screen. Even better, it’s only $7.99 per month and allows you to share your account with up to five family members.

So, to sign up or not to sign up? To make things a little easier we’ve raided the catalogue of Apple TV+ and have found a slew of epic shows worth your time.

The Morning Show

This snappy new series stars Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, everyone’s favourite news presenter on The Morning Show. Known for changing the face of television the show takes a dive when Levy’s co-host Mitch Kessler (Steve Carrell) is fired amidst a sexual misconduct scandal. Levy must fight to keep her place, while brash field reporter turned new TMS co-host Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) threatens to take her place.

If you’ve been mourning the loss of Jason Momoa on the small screen since his untimely demise in Game of Thrones, then you’ll want to download this epic series stat. In this one, a virus has decimated humankind and those who survived emerge blind. Momoa stars as the father of twins born centuries later with the mythical ability to see. In this dangerous post-apocalyptic world, Momoa must protect his tribe against a threatened queen.

Dickinson

She might be the woman behind some the world’s greatest poems but it turns out when Emily Dickinson was a teen, she one badass babe… well according to this series anyway. In this series we follow Dickinson, played by Hailee Steinfeld, as a teen, rebelling against her parents, falling in forbidden love and starting trouble. In this version of Dickinson she’s a mouthy, feminist and we dig her! The series only gets better thanks to the epic musical score including songs by Billie Eilish and Mitski.

The Elephant Queen

If you’re a fan of Planet Earth but struggle with how hectic some of scenes can be, then The Elephant Queen is for you. Narrated by Chewitel Ejiofer, this incredible doco follows an all-female elephant herd across Africa. In it, you’ll get to know the whole fam—Mimi the newborn, teenager Mili, and Athena, their fearless leader. They live in paradise but when a devastating drought turns their home to dust, Athena must lead her family 160 kilometres across the country in search of a new home. This one will simultaneously give you goose bumps and warm your heart.

For All Mankind

For All Mankind asks the question, "What if the Space Race had never ended?". In this series, we’re offered an alternate storyline in history— the USSR beats the US to the moon via their Russian cosmonaut, Alexei Leonov. The loss devastates NASA and fuels them to challenge the Soviet Union once more, reigniting the race. The series follows the lives of NASA astronauts, which include historical figures like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong and even better, some badass female astronauts. You don’t have to be sci-fi nerd to love his series, in fact its so popular, it’s already been renewed for a second season.
