Strap yourself in, 2021 is going to deliver quite possibly the most intense, binge-worthy Netflix series yet.

Yep, we know it’s a big call but trust us, Behind Her Eyes is the perfect mix of psychological thriller meets twisted romantic drama with just a touch of supernatural fantasy. Yes it’s hectic and yes, you’ll love it.

Based on Sarah Pinborough’s best selling 2017 novel of the same name, it follows Louise Barnsley, a young, single mum whose otherwise uneventful life takes a turn when she becomes romantically involved with her handsome—and married—boss, psychiatrist David (played by Tom Bateman).

But things get extra messy when after a “chance” encounter with David’s wife, Adele, Louise befriends her and becomes entangled in a love triangle of secrecy and lies. On top of the guilt, she is often plagued by night terrors manifesting from past trauma.

Adele, on the other hand, appears to have it all. On the outside she’s beautiful and kind, but behind the doors of her mansion, she’s lonely and desperate to make her once-loving spouse happy again. It’s not until she secretly forms said friendship with Louise—something she hasn’t had for a long time—that she feels empowered to take back control of her own life. And just like Louise, she’s also hiding a dark secret that once landed her in a psychiatric hospital.

Yes it’s going to be seriously juicy

The series, which will consist of six, hour-long eps, is being produced by Left Bank Pictures—the same crew who brought us The Crown, so you know it’s got the goods. If you want to scope out the story before it airs, grab a copy of the book here.
