This Epic New Podcast Is Helping To Redefine Masculinity In 2022

By

It’s no secret that the traditional concept of masculinity has been going through an identity overhaul recently—insert makeover montage here. But, opening a dialogue about the effects that an outdated model of masculinity has had on our planet, communities and families can bring with it a heap of vulnerability. This is where the MVP, the humble podcast, steps in to help.

The REAL STUFF podcast has issued an open invitation to us all, to engage with the hard stuff, and the good stuff, that comes with addressing the challenges of redefining masculinity in 2022. Initiating the game-changing conversations is host, Hunter Johnson, founder and CEO of The Man Cave and self-care brand, STUFF.

Johnson has had his fair share of vulnerable conversations, having worked with over 20,000 young men across Australia through The Man Cave Programs. Now, he’s inviting fellow changemakers like Chanel Contos, Tom Harkin, Dyson Heppel, and Paul Bassat to provide perspective and a healthy dose of humour to conversations that could lead to a happier and healthy world for all of us.

While you won’t be lacking for wisecracks and cheeky chat when you tune in to new episodes fortnightly, REAL STUFF doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff, highlighting the real and devastating effects that a model of masculinity well past its use-by date can have on our communities.

Suicide is still the leading cause of death among men under 45, and one woman is murdered by her intimate partner every week in Australia. These numbers are straight-up confronting, but Johnson believes conversations lead to change and that change can’t come soon enough.
