Time sure does fly when you’re having fun, and if you’ve spent any time at the State Buildings over the past decade you’ll know exactly how ten years managed to disappear in the blink of an eye. Since swinging open their stunning heritage doors in 2015, the State Buildings have redefined and defined the heart of Perth, becoming a go-to for long lunches, late-night drinks, boutique shopping and five-star stays.
Now, they’re turning ten, and in true State Buildings style they’re not just throwing a party, they’re curating an entire month-long festival of indulgence. Think international kitchen takeovers (including exclusive collabs with their COMO family from COMO Dempsey and COMO Orchard), celebratory cellar raids, champagne brunches, spicy night markets, intimate concerts, and a cultural deep-dive into the creative fabric of WA.
Whether you’re a diehard foodie, a wine lover, a design buff or just here for a good time, there’s something in this lineup that’ll have you booking a sitter and clearing your calendar, but the events we won’t be missing? You’ll find them below.
Creative Collabs And Seriously Sexy Kitchen Takeovers

If there’s one thing we can’t resist, it’s a kitchen takeover—and the State Buildings 10-year anniversary lineup is serving them with serious international cred.
First up, Torno Subito is jetting in from Singapore’s COMO Dempsey for a two-day pop-up at POST. If you’re not already across it, this retro-inspired Italian gem is the brainchild of none other than Massimo Bottura—yes, the guy behind three Michelin stars and one of the best restaurants in the world. Expect a four-course set menu that’s big on nostalgia, bold on flavour, and guaranteed to give your Instagram something to do. Lunch and dinner sittings are available, but don’t sleep on this one—it’s strictly limited.
Then there's the Wildflower and Pangium collab that’s got the Urban List Perth office buzzing. Wildflower’s Paul Wilson will be sharing the pass with Michelin-starred Singaporean chef Malcolm Lee, and together they’ll be plating up five-course lunches and eight-course dinners over two days, blending native Australian ingredients with the bold, expressive flavours of Straits cuisine. A full cuisine and culture blending experience, and we’re absolutely here for it.
And just when you thought things couldn’t get more indulgent, pastry god Cédric Grolet is bringing his edible sculptures to Perth. Yep, the world’s most famous pastry chef (and viral Instagram darling) is setting up shop at Cape Arid Rooms for a one-week-only afternoon tea. Think pastries so flawless you’ll hesitate to take a bite. Don’t miss your chance to taste it all.
Champagne Tastes And Cellar Raids

If your love language is less lengthy lunches and more bubbles and back vintages, clear your calendar because the State Buildings are popping corks and pulling out the good stuff for two very special events.
Step Inside The Cellar is a real once-in-a-decade kind of evening, so don’t say we didn’t warn you with this one. Director of wine Emma Farrelly is handing over her most prized possession, the keys to the State Building’s cellar. We're talking rare and remarkable bottles, carefully cellared over the past ten years, finally seeing the light of day, and the inside of your glass. Each drop will be paired with a bespoke menu by exec chef Lucas Fernandes, promising a night of serious sipping and swanning.
If you want to go bubbles over bordeaux (this is a celebration after all), look no further than a champagne brunch. On Global Champagne Day, allow Emma to guide you as you sip your way through some of the most iconic houses in Champagne, one perfectly chilled pour at a time, all inside the intimate surrounds of the State Cellars Wine Room.
Spicy Stalls And Bold Cocktails

Long Chim is bringing the heat for State Building’s anni, as it does every day. Get ready to be transported to the heady streets of Bangkok, as the Long Chim courtyard turns into a vibrant Thai night market, right in the heart of the city, for two nights only.
Expect live music, electric energy, and the unmistakable scent of smoky, spicy street eats filling the air. You’ll graze your way through sweet and savoury stalls, sip Thai-inspired cocktails under the stars, and soak up all the buzz of Bangkok without the airfare.
Whether you're a longtime Long Chim lover or just chasing a midweek vibe shift, this is your chance to dive into the flavours and fun of Thailand in one seriously immersive setting. It’s spicy, it’s loud, it’s a little chaotic—and it’s exactly where you want to be.
While you’re there, do yourself a favour and check out Long Chim’s latest installment of Lone Traveller. The carefully crafted new cocktail menu is an absolute assault on the senses, and I mean that in only the best way, that’ll transport you straight to the steamy streets of Thailand. Now in its fifth edition, the new cocktail menu is a full-blown flavour trip: bold, bright, and a little bit sweaty (in the best way).
Something For The Kids

One of my favourite things about State Buildings? Despite being one of the most luxe hotels in Perth, they always include the most thoughtful touch points for your little ones. Littles aged five and up can drop into Long Chim on October 1 and 2 and take part in a dumpling marking workshop. The 60 minute masterclass is just long enough to hold their attention as they learn the art of filling and folding their own dumplings, before they head into the courtyard to feast on their creations. And yes, adult beverages will be available.
Then, come October 11 and 12, colour, creativity and chaos will really be taking over the Buildings, in a weekend ode to play, perfect for little ones of all ages. The Buildings’ impeccably curated bookstore meets giftshop, Edicole, will be taken over by a Connectix fuelled playspace, inviting kids to let their imaginations run wild as they engage in building and breaking, or explore the iridescent Connetix creation, built right here in Perth, that will take centre stage.Even better, parents can perch in close proximity to the action to keep an eye on their littles, and sip on a glass or two from Wine Merchant. Win win.
You can check out the full line up of events, from live music sessions to wellness immersion, at the State Buildings website.
