Why The King’s Man Is The Spy Action Blockbuster You Need To See In Cinema

By Elise Cullen

While summer down under is a marker of many things—epic beach hangs, barbies and balmy nights, to name a few—it also means the release of the year’s biggest and best blockbusters hitting our screens. Sure, slapping on some sunscreen and catching rays is great but there’s nothing like escaping the humidity, reclining back in air conditioned comfort, tossing back a bucket of popcorn and being totally transfixed—and this year, The King’s Man is one of the most anticipated action-packed films to catch this summer at the cinema.

Following The Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and The Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), The King’s Man is the third instalment in the beloved Kingsman franchise and is the prequel origin story we never knew we needed.

Another sophisticated spy thriller from returning director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, RX-Men First Class), The King’s Man is set in the early 20th century and takes us back to where it all began when the revered Kingsman Agency was formed to stand up against a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds who gathered to plot a war and wipe out millions.

This film has opened up a welcomed Kingsman-esque catalogue of stars including Hollywood heavyweights Ralph Feinns, Gemma Arterton, Djimon Hounsou and Rhys Ifans—plus a slew of cameos and returning faves. R&B experimental artists FKA Twigs has even released a dramatic track for the film ‘Measure Of A Man’ featuring Central Cee, which will undoubtedly be spinning on repeat over summer.

If you’re familiar with The Kingsman franchise, you’ll know what to expect with this one—and it doesn’t disappoint. Expect outrageous and outlandish action scenes, absurdity, hilarity and, of course, dapper decadence—it’s all about sharp wits, sharp knives and sharp suits.

Kingsman fans have waited a long time for this one—the mega movie was set to be released back in 2019 but a little thing called Covid pumped the brakes—so cinemas will undoubtedly be packed opening week. Suit up and secure your ticket because this is one epic spectacle you won’t want to miss in cinemas—and remember: manners maketh man.
