While the current three-day lockdown is scheduled to finish at 6pm on Friday, we’re all still a little hesitant to make any plans for this weekend. Will the lockdown be extended? Will we be let out, but with hefty restrictions? Well, it’s not just us asking the questions, it’s our local hospo fam too, but one venue isn’t letting the precarious situation stop them.
City Winery, Brisbane’s one and only urban winery, is hosting a four-course truffle dinner with matched wines on Saturday night—and they’re doing it whether we’re still in lockdown or not. If we are, you’ll get everything you need to finish off the mini degustation at home delivered to your door. If not, well, you’ve got plans for Saturday night and they involve dressing up for a truffle feast in the Valley.
These guys are no strangers to home-delivered degustations—last year they pumped them out weekly, with their chef become an expert at creating incredible meals that could be plated up at home with minimal effort but maximum flavour, so we have no doubt this time round will be no different if we are still stuck at home.
On the menu for the dinner is a starter of charcuterie with pickles and crusty bread, followed by an entree of truffle mushroom pate with Little Acre mushrooms and house-made brioche. For the main, you’ll be tucking into beef short rib with Jerusalem artichoke, cabbage and truffle butter, while the sweet finisher features a truffle and honey bavarois with hazelnut and apple. The dinner will set you back $95, and you can add on matched wines from the winery’s own label for $40 per person. If the dinner is in person, there’s a 6pm and 8pm seating to choose from, otherwise you’ll be contacted to arrange delivery. Lock in your spot here.
