If you love nothing more than an aromatic cup of jasmine tea, there’s a new eatery and bar in the city that might just get you salivating. Lücha Black Bar and Dining comes to us from the team behind Lücha Kitchen and Bar, who you may know from their incredible dessert hot pots and tea-inspired feeds. Lücha Black isn’t far from the OG location, situated just over in Albert Lane in the Queen Street Mall, but it’s aim is to be slightly more sophisticated—perfect for post-work Friday night drinks and dinner.

Just like over at Lücha, Lücha Black has a seriously glam interior. A long, curved black bar is the centrepiece of the venue, surrounded by speckled stone-topped tables and plush chairs, all in muted colours of navy and teal. Our favourite feature though, has to be the round tables with giant lazy susans for big groups—so no more reaching across the table for the last pork and chive dumpling.

If you’re with a big crew you’ll definitely need to make use of one of those lazy susans for all the food you’ll order—the menu features a lengthy list of Chinese eats, many featuring the restaurant’s signature tea-infused flavours. Just here for cocktails and light bites? Order up plates of bar snacks like pan-fried pork buns, spring rolls, pineapple fried shrimp and xiao long bao. For something more substantial, you’ll want to hit up larger plates like their signature tea-flavoured roast chicken or roast pork belly, jasmine tea-smoked duck (which comes served up under a cloche and a cloud of smoke) or combination mushroom and chicken broth with oolong tea. The real MVP though, is the Peking Duk, which comes with pancakes, cucumber slices and all the accompaniments. Just remember to  order in advance if you prefer not to wait 40 minutes for it to be roasted to perfection.

There’s also plenty of wok-fried dishes with steamed rice and bowls of saucy noodles to load the table up with—just make sure you leave a little room for dessert. The team have perfected their own jasmine tea soft serve recipe, making it from scratch on the daily and it is a winner. All about the boba? Grab one of their boba sundaes, with boba pearls topped with soft serve in flavours like brown sugar, taro, mango and strawberry.

And we haven’t even gotten to the cocktails yet. All tea-inspired, you can sip on concoctions like the Fair Lady, with white rum, oolong tea, lychee and rose liqueur, served with a swirl of liquid nitrogen and shot glasses to pour it into; or the BOBA Pina Colada with white rum, Malibu, coconut cream, pineapple juice and black pearls. The most decadent cocktail, however, is the Pompeii Volcano, which combines Lücha Black’s black tea charcoal soft serve with chocolate ice cream, gin, black tea and simple syrup (you will need a spoon to drink it).

Not up for booze? Don’t worry, there’s a lengthy list of milk teas, fruit teas, sparkling teas and other drinks too. Basically, Lücha Black has you covered for quick (or long) lunches, afternoon bites and big group dinners, and you should check them out soon.
