Tangalooma Is Now Home To Australia’s Very First Year-Round Beachfront Cabana Club

Summer lovers, rejoice—beachside cabana clubs are no longer something you need to jetset to Greece for. Set your sights on Moreton Island's Tangalooma Island Resort, just an hour's ferry ride from Brisbane, because we reckon it’ll soon be your go-to spot to escape the everyday. They’re opening the country’s very first year-round cabana club on the sands of Tangalooma Beach, and they’re calling it Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club. 

Picture this: you’re by the beach, perched up in your private cabana with all your best mates. The fridge by your side is keeping your drinks ice cold and the shared table has your afternoon snacky bits sprawled out in front of you. It gets a touch too warm? Simply flick on the fan and adjust the shutters for pure bliss. If you want to take a dip in the ocean, grab your inclusive beach towel and hit the sand.

Tangalooma Dunes promises a dedicated beachfront cabana precinct with 20 private, architecturally-designed cabanas available for up to eight guests each. You’ll be able to pre-order food platters and drinks if you’re Type-A or there's an on-site kiosk to fuel you up throughout your booking. A selectin of the cabanas are also wheelchair accessible. 

If relaxing and recharging by the beach in the comfort of your very own cabana is all you have in mind, go for it. But, you can also use the Club as a secure base to soak up all Tangalooma has to offer from quad biking to helicopter tours or snorkelling.

And if you need another reason to make the ferry trip across, Tangalooma has some impressive Hollywood creds. The resort happens to where the blockbuster hit, Scooby-Doo, was filmed back in 2002. Yep, Tangalooma Island Resort is Spooky Island (jinkies!). We're sad to report we haven't spotted any Scooby Snacks on the new cabana club menu.

Bookings for Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club will launch in late spring, starting at $240 for a full-day hire (9am to 5pm).
