Mexicali

A second venue for the Gold Coast institution, Mexicali has come to Brisbane, taking over an open air rooftop space in Bulimba and filling it with stunning bespoke furnishings that will whisk you away to the coast of Mexico. Whether you opt for a giant booth or perch up at the bar tables overlooking Oxford Street below, prepare for a feast of tacos, snacks and of course, endless margaritas. 

Anyone who’s made the trek down to the Nobby’s venue will recognise the familiar favourites on the menu, including corn chips with guac, grilled corn smothered in queso and chipotle mayo and Mexican chilli salt squid to pique your appetite before you move onto Baja-style fish, al pastor or beef birria tacos.

It's as much about the margaritas as it is the food though, which use nothing but 100% Blue Agave tequila and mezcal (not the half-moonshine stuff you’ll find at the bottle-o) and come in flavours like watermelon, coconut, passionfruit and a spicy cucumber and jalapeno. They’ve got a hefty selection of wines, beers, sangrias and other cocktails to choose from as well, so everyone is covered.
