We have an ongoing love affair with Yamagen and when you visit this swanky Japanese restaurant nestled in the heart of Surfers Paradise, you’ll know why. This refined izakaya dining spot is opening its doors for Mother’s Day with an exclusive seven-course omakase menu, including a glass of champagne and a surprise gift for Mum. Think—salmon, wasabi salsa and tuna taco, crispy pork belly with nashi pear and wasabi and thinly sliced snapper with truffled tosazu and kombu. Yeah, it’s basically artwork on a plate. Speaking of artwork on a plate, we’ll just leave you with a mind-blowing description of the exclusive Mother’s Day dessert: a vertical garden made out of black sesame crunch, sakura parfait, chiffon sponge, lokum and pistachio crumb.
