Matcha has firmly taken over the Gold Coast, with its popularity—and appearances on cafe menus—continuing to surge. What was once an outlier in the morning beverage scene is now a firmly established drink of choice for many, with some even choosing it over their daily coffee—caffeine kick without the jitters, what’s not to love?
While the Urban List team won’t be giving up our daily bean juice any time soon, we have definitely hopped aboard the matcha train and, with so many Gold Coast cafes offering top-tier matcha, we have no intention of hopping off. If you’re looking to grab a smooth, bitter-sweet green tea drink, look no further—we’ve done the hard work for you by tracking down 13 of the best matcha spots on the Gold Coast. Happy sipping.
Shiro Gelato & Snack
50B Nerang St, Southport QLD 4215
It’s no secret that we’re obsessed with Shiro Gelato & Snack. From their delicious mochi-covered gelato to their authentic onigiri—Just thinking about their menu has us salivating.
And the best part? They offer matcha-flavoured everything. Gelato, soda, or just over ice; they’ve got us matcha-lovers covered. They take great pride in sourcing the highest quality matcha from Kyoto, Japan. We think we can taste the difference.
Temaeza
135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217
Temaeza is on a mission to bring truly authentic matcha to the Gold Coast and they’ve garnered a loyal following in the process. You’ll often find their weekly market stall at HOTA, open from 6am to 11:30am every Sunday, surrounded by throngs of matcha-lover’s lining up for their flavourful Japanese tea drink.
Beyond boasting an incredible, ceremonial-grade matcha imported from Japan, Temaeza often offer varying flavour combinations as well—think matcha with watermelon, peach, and even mango. We’re always eager to try their latest fusions. See you there on a Sunday.
Buoy
17 Lavarack Rd, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218
If the stunning interiors and incredible brews aren’t enough to get you over to Buoy nestled in The Oxley precinct, then perhaps the organic matcha will. It’s quickly making a name for itself as a superior spot for a coffee and we think its matcha game is definitely up to par.
The real treat is that, even with an iced matcha, they give the milk a quick blast with the steam wand so that you get that perfect, frothy top. You can even order online in advance and Buoy is dog-friendly in the outdoor dining space so no one needs to miss out on your morning matcha mission.
Hazel Espresso
9 Davenport St, Southport QLD 4215

If you’re after a bold matcha with a sweet undertone, Hazel Espresso is the place to go. Their iconic iced matcha coffee sphere, where frothed matcha is poured over a frozen coffee sphere, is enough to have us journeying to the northern end of the Coast.
Whether you prefer it hot or over ice, their matcha (much like the rest of their menu) is on point. When you next find yourself in Southport, popping in for a sweet yet slightly bitter beverage is an absolute must.
Chanoyu - Japanese Matcha Cafe
6a/56 Nerang St, Nerang QLD 4211
As the name suggests, the team at Chanoyu sure knows matcha. In fact, you’ll have trouble choosing from their extensive matcha menu—iced matcha with an espresso shot, anyone? What about matcha soda? It almost calls for one of each.
In case the drinks aren’t enough to convince you, they also offer delectable Japanese-inspired food. Their creamy tantan noodle soup is sure to keep you racing back for more. Drool.

BSKT Cafe
4 Lavarack Rd, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218
BSKT Cafe has withstood the test of time and if you’ve been, you’d understand why. Their health-focussed ethos aligns well with their fitness-loving audience, which is why we reckon’ they’re one of the best cafes on the Gold Coast.
As such, it’s only natural that they’re serving up an antioxidant and mineral rich beverage like matcha, and one that’s good enough to make our list, no less.
The Holliday. Coffee
2251 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218

The Holliday. Coffee has firmly established itself as a go-to spot on the Gold Coast for breakfast treats and morning beverages, including our favourite green drink—matcha.
Whether you want to nab a sunny spot under one of their cute striped umbrellas or just grab a tasty takeaway, you can’t go wrong with a matcha from these guys. We’d recommend grabbing one of their cheese-loaded jaffles while you’re there.
Alfred’s Apartment
2225 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218
Alfred’s Apartment has earned itself a cult-like following and for good reason. Everything they do, they do very well—and matcha is no exception. Whether you’re after a vibrant green iced matcha or a sweet strawberry version, Alfred’s supplies some of the Gold Coast’s finest.
Stroll through their chic store, sipping on an iced matcha and browsing their stylish apparel, before grabbing a tasty treat from Foster’s Bakery next door and heading to the beach. We think it’s the best way to spend a Saturday.
Seadog
8/50 James St, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
The team at Seadog have been waking up at the crack of dawn to service the early-morning crowds in Burleigh since 2018. Despite their pint-sized location, these guys are constantly serving up the good stuff—and by good stuff, we mean premium matcha, of course.
While Seadog is more commonly known for making some of the Gold Coast’s best coffee, we think their iced matcha is of equal quality. We can’t go past without grabbing one. Oh, and did we mention you can order online?
Matcha Therapy
129 Laver Dr, Robina QLD 4226

If you’ve been to the newly opened Matcha Therapy in Robina you’ll know that, on top of their stunning interiors and chic nail salon, they also make some incredible matcha. Hot, iced, sweet, strawberry; you’re guaranteed to find something scrumptious to sip on.
We recommend grabbing a matcha and cosying up with a friend at one of their window seats. Or better yet, with a book if you’re flying solo—it’s a surefire way to fill up your self-care cup.
Stone Studio and Co
14 Nuban St, Currumbin Waters QLD 4223 &
1/110 Marine Parade, Kingscliff NSW 2487
These guys have thought of everything. Cute date idea? Sorted. Top-tier matcha? No worries. A fun activity with friends? Of course they’ve got you covered—and all in a calm, aesthetically pleasing studio.
Stone Studio and Co’s main focus may be clay, but that doesn’t detract from their matcha-making finesse. It just means you can drink your delicious beverage from a gorgeous, handmade mug—it doesn’t get much better.
Kefi Cafe
2/110 Marine Parade, Coolangatta QLD 4225
Located just a stone's throw from the popular Coolangatta Beach, Kefi Cafe serves a mouth-watering menu and a lunch banquet that will have you head over heels. They also happen to provide some of the Gold Coast’s best matcha.
Creamy and the perfect balance between bitter and sweet, they’re a matcha lover’s delight. And did we mention they offer house-made almond milk? This might be our new favourite spot for matcha by the beach.
Dust Temple
54 Currumbin Creek Rd, Currumbin Waters QLD 4223
Ah, Dust Temple. They just don’t miss. Somewhat of a Gold Coast institution, they seem to be in a league of their own. So, of course, they make an impeccable matcha.
Sticking to the more traditional style of matcha, theirs is a perfectly rounded flavour with a bitter finish. We like to have ours as intended if it’s iced, but when we opt for a hot matcha latte, we get a little honey on the side—it’s like a big hug.
