Where To Find The Gold Coast’s Best Yum Cha

Written by: Natalie O'Driscoll

Navigating our culinary landscape unveils a treasure trove of Asian fare, in particular, it's yum cha Gold Coast excels at. From boldly modern twists to time-honoured classics, the Gold Coast/Kombumerri Country offers a diverse array of yum cha destinations, where dim sum, spring rolls, siu mai and har gow are the stars.

So what makes a yum cha destination one of the best? For me, beyond those delightful trolleys and the buzz of excitement in the air, it must lift the lid on piping hot bites that turn heads and lure hands. There's got to be a seemingly endless supply of dishes. And variety, for me, is key.

Read on for myself and the Urban List team's top picks for 10 of the best yum cha places on the Gold Coast in 2025, ordered from north to south.

Gold Coast's Best Yum Cha At A Glance

North Gold Coast Yum Cha

Dragon Cove Chinese Cuisine

1 Masthead Way, Hope Island QLD 4212

The scenic locale of Hope Island is perfect for lunch with a breathtaking waterfront view, which Dragon Cove delivers in spades. They're open for lunch 12noon-230pm and dinner 5pm-9pm Wednesday through Monday. The first time I dined here it was refreshing to see that parking's free and untimed in the Marine Village carpark. Naturally, I lounged and snacked for hours. Read more.

Of course, delightful flavours are also on offer in their extensive yum cha menu, featuring all your favourite dumplings, bao, noodles, and small dishes. It’s not everywhere you’ll encounter satay beef tripe, either. But my personal favourite is the Dragon Cove's Siu Mai (that's Chinese dumpling). Hit the dragon up for a truly satisfying and immersive dining experience. Check out the menu.

Yum Cha Cuisine

Harbour Town Shopping Centre, 147 Brisbane Rd, Biggera Waters QLD 4216

Strategically located in the forever-bustling Harbourtown Shopping Centre, Yum Cha Cuisine Harbourtown is far more than a food court feature, it's something of a hidden culinary gem that is well worth the visit during your next shopping trip. Plus, it's open 1030am-9pm daily, so no matter the time you find yourself dreaming of pillowey pork buns, this spot's got the goods.

Beyond its gastronomic appeal, this Gold Coast yum cha restaurant becomes an even more enticing prospect with its weekday lunch specials, making it an affordable yet delectable choice for both the curious and the connoisseur. Word to the wise: check out \the chef’s recommendations. They feature inventive dishes like the spicy bean jelly salad with shredded chicken through to seafood combination in a birds nest. And I believe it'd be a sin to not have at least one crispy noodle dish during your yum cha experience. View the full menu.

Jasmine Room

Level 1, 2 Como Cres, Southport QLD 4215

Jasmine Room in the Sundale Building beckons Southport diners into an elegant setting where the menu dishes up a touch of modernity to traditional Cantonese cuisine. Lunch is 11am-230pm, dinner's 5pm-830pm and bookings are open 7 days a week. Read more here.

Choose from yum cha, a la carte or the hefty banquets for your hungry group. The Peking duck pancakes are impossible for me to resist, as are the Sichuan prawns and black truffle veggie dumplings. For the sweet tooth cravings, the mango pudding with evaporated milk is silky smooth and one of the more unique dishes at a Gold Coast yum cha joint. Here's the menu.

Sure, there’s no shortage of epic Asian cuisine in Surfers Paradise. However, Royal Dynasty stands tall as a beloved yum cha Gold Coast locals and visitors alike rave about as an opulent destination. Their commitment to excellence extends beyond the culinary realm, too, with top-notch service and a chic ambiance that combine to create an unforgettable dining experience. Hidden in plain sight in the heart of Burleigh, Yum Cha Gallery is a popular local favourite, and personally my top pick for excellent yum cha. And hey, if you’re going to call yourself the ‘best yum cha on the Gold Coast’, you’d better hustle to make sure you stay at the top of your game. And hustle they do. You can even order a party box of yum cha ready for your next hurrah. These folks are open daily 1030am-3 for lunch and 5pm-9pm for dinner service.
