We don’t know about you but we’re jumping with joy for the long weekend—and all food and cultural events that it brings. Heck, it’s the last 3-day weekend for a while, so let’s make the most of it... Expect food truck festivals (obviously!), music gigs, a bocce tournament, a Kanye vs Drake party, and loads more.

All Weekend

Bird’s Basement Live Music

The basement below our favourite Calzone joint, Beer Wine and Calzone, is home to the CBD’s newest initimate jazz bar: Bird’s Basement. Heralding from Buffalo New York, contemporary jazz icons Spyro Gyra will take to the stage this weekend. Tickets are available here, with a choice of 2 sessions at 7:45pm and 10:00pm. Wine, calzone and jazz? The perfect weekend night indeed.  

Friday 22nd 

Appleton Estate Tasting Trail 

This is your last chance, folks—you’ve been warned. This weekend is the final leg of Appleton Estate’s Tasting Trail and its NOT to be missed! Nieuw Amsterdam is playing host this week, and it’s going to be an epic two nights of luxe Jamaican themed, tropical fun. You’ll be able to enjoy all of Appleton Estate’s best drops, soak up the tropical vibes, and learn a thing or two about the rum along the way. This Friday and Saturday is where it’s at.

Saturday 23rd 

All night Saturday Night at the NGV

The last NGV Friday night has already sold out—so get in quick to secure your tickets for the Saturday night program, featuring a DJ set by Oscar Key Sung, a special live performance by celebrated Aussie singer-songwriter, Robert Forster. Plus, it's your final opportunity to view the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibition (*cries*) when the NGV opens all night (literally, all night) this Saturday night. 

The Food Truck Park Preston: BBQ and Beers day

Attention all meat lovers and BBQ devotees, Melbourne’s best BBQ food trucks are stopping off at Preston this Saturday night just for you. Expect a smokin’ line-up with the likes of Real Burgers and Mama Van, and $6 Melbourne bitter flowing from Barry’s bar all day.  Check out the Facebook event for further deets. 

Sunday 24th

A Day in The Studio with Meggs

Unleash your inner creative with a 5-hour intensive workshop led by internationally recognized street and fine artist, Meggs. You will learn about his unique creative processes from start to finish, and apply yo new skillz to both individual artwork and a collaborative mural. The day will be wrapped up with chats, wine and appetizers. Reserve your spot here

Bulmers Bocce tournament

Ballers, gather up a team of 4—it's time to test your hand eye co-ordination with a good ol' fashioned Bocce tournament down the laneway at the Bridge Hotel this Saturday from midday to 4pm. The winning stakes are high with a grand prize of $1500! If you’re more concerned with the $8 pints of Bulmers cider than the game itself, do not fear—you may still be able to win the prize for the best get-up. 

Kanye vs Drake Party at Laundry Bar

Head down to Laundry Bar this Anzac Day Eve for a music battle of epic proportions. Drizzy upstairs, Yeezus downstairs—take yo pick. It's time to finally take sides in this turf war...

Mt. Erica Food Truck Fiesta

The recently renovated Mt. Erica Hotel is hosting a weekly pop-up food-truck festival in its High St car park on Sundays from 3pm, starting this week. Expect 3-4 delicious food trucks, two local bands and unlimited bevz available for purchase. Your Sunday session is now officially sorted! 

Peter Baylor and The Roadhouse Romeos at The Gem

Western swing artists Peter Baylor & The Roadhouse Romeos are landing at The Gem Bar & Dining Room this Sunday eve. Keen to complement the tunes with an American BBQ feast? Call The Gem to book your table. 

Eastland Farmer's Markets

If local produce is where your mind is at this weekend, head down to Eastland for the brand new Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 9am till 2pm—starting this week! With a primary focus on the Yarra Valley, the Eastland Farmers’ Markets will showcase the finest in regional produce including Benny’s Berries, Yarra Valley Free Range Pork, The Old Farm Happy Valley Free Range Eggs, Timbarra Farm and Rayners Orchard. There will even be pop up tacos, so, what are you waiting for? 

Monday 25th

Welcome to Thornbury Food Truck Park

End your weekend by eating and drinking your way through the Welcome to Thornbury Food Truck Park. The line-up is hotting up for Anzac Day this long weekend, with the likes of Mr Burger, Super Taco and Nuco Mama's making an appearance. Opening at 12pm especially for Anzac Day, you’ll get to sip on on cocktails on day long. 

One to Book!

Feast Asia Festival

Featuring a martial arts demonstration, Pokemon Swap Meet (gather your childhood cards people!) and some of Melbourne’s best Asian-inspired food trucks, this one-day only cultural festival is all we want this autumn! Early-bird tickets are available until 24 April. Entry to this all-inclusive event this May will sell like dumplings on a Friday night, so head to the website to book your spot!
