Christmas is hella nigh and I'll be surprised if anyone has any money left. But if they do, here's some ripper events to spend it on this weekend in Melbourne.
The Wind in the Willows
Take your kids or simply awaken your long-forgotten childhood this weekend by catching Australia’s longest-running theatre show, The Wind in the Willows, in the Royal Botanic Gardens. It’s literally just completed its first international tour in London and is back in Melbourne this summer to deliver you a critically-acclaimed outdoor theatre production full of songs and laffs. Big names such as Ratty, Mole, Badger, Otter, Portly and the main man himself, Mr Toad, will be there. Shows run at 10am every day in addition to an added timeslot of 6pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Head to the website for tickets and further info.
Illusionaire Magic Show
Jonesing for a good ‘ol hit of magic? Then the Illusionaire Magic Show is your one-stop-shop for all things unbelievable. Sam Angelico and Rosanna Maccarrone are an untraditional duo who blend magic and comedy to leave their audiences bewildered and furiously searching for ‘how to’s on YouTube. Rosanna is also one of the very last remaining female magicians in the world. She’s been doing it for over twenty years and she kicks ass. The show kicks off at 2:30pm and 7:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and tickets can be purchased here.
Skate With Santa
It’s time to get your skates on because Santa’s coming and he ain’t here for the good boys and girls, he’s here for the ice [ice baby]. Head on over to O’Brien Group Arena between 9am-12pm on Saturday and 9am-10pm on Sunday to shred some ice with Santa. More details here.
QV Outdoor Cinema
Yassss another outdoor cinema! And this one’s in a superbly central location that offers a smorgasbord of delish food, FREE (free? Free!) cocktails, live entertainment, red carpets, instafamous doggos and puppers, and much more! This Friday night will feature a screening of ‘The Night Before Christmas’, followed by ‘Gremlins’ on Saturday night. Grab your tickets here.

The event is free, but if you’re after more details, head to the website.
Last Night At The LuWow
Fitzroy’s The LuWow is sadly closing its door, but now before a huge blowout shindig on Friday night from 5pm. Christmas Lunch with All-You-Can-Eat Meat
Say it with me now–all you can eat meat! Ditch the family this Sunday (if you can’t convince them to join you) and head over to the Meat Market on South Wharf Promenade to eat Christmas lunch like a king (who doesn’t have a capped meat intake). The event will run between 12-4pm and tickets are $95 each. But it’s totally worth it. Get those tickies here.
