5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Steff Tan - 28 Aug 2017

With Melbourne’s crazy weather out to play, getting out of bed sucks. Working out isn’t even the picture…unless some alcohol is involved…and maybe some free ramen afterwards…just to balance it all out. Good thing all that stuff and more is heading our way in the next five days.

Here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Tuesday 29 August

The team at Asian fusion restaurant, Spring And Summer are turning one. And to share some of the birthday love, they’re giving away 100 mouth-watering bowls of their special menu ramen. That’s 100 bowls of noodles in soy-flavoured chicken broth, free for the taking. Starting Tuesday, this slurpilicious offer will last till Sunday 3 September, so get ‘em while you can.

Where: Spring and Summer restaurant, 192 Barkly Street St Kilda
When: Tuesday 29 August – Sunday 3 September, 5.30pm-7.30pm

Wednesday 30 August

Get fit and tipsy for free. Need I say more? Just imagine turning a lunch-break into some quality education as you learn the ‘Chug Pose’ or even the ‘Tipsy Dancer’ for a sexy six-pack – and by six-pack we mean beer. Originating in the beer-loving country of Germany, this will be Melbourne’s first taste of the popular beer yoga craze, so if you’re not feeling the ninja warrior cross at Bounce, this one's for you.

Where: Next to Pad Thai Restaurant at Midtown Melbourne, 246 Bourke St Melbourne (Enter via Swanston Street)
When: 12pm & 1pm Wednesday – Thursday 31 August

Smashing the glass ceiling, The Mother’s Den supports, nurtures, and encourages mothers who want to work but be completely present in their kids’ lives. Based in Sydney, the crew are headed down to pass on some good vibes to Melbourne mums with guest-speakers, meet-up events, and business support. Their first event kicks off this week at Rupert on Rupert. Power brunch with a side of networking. Nice one.

Where: Rupert on Rupert, 73 Rupert Street Collingwood
When: Wednesday 30 August

Thursday 31 August

If Ramen doesn’t do it for you, boogie down to Collingwood’s Bar SK—a hybrid of alcoholic fun and edgy exhibition space—to celebrate another first birthday. From weirdly wonderful art you’d expect from a gallery on Smith Street, to strange custom arcade games with controls built into a stuffed teddy-bear, something is bound to make you smile. At least in confusion.

Beginning on Thursday, Bar SK will be hosting a bunch of hella rad exhibitions with all sorts of interactive works and specially made games to be featured. Of course there will also be a Bar SK and general beer theme to the night *tick*. The party will stretch to Sunday where you can treat yourself to a “Hangover Picnic” with coffee…well Irish Coffee but still, coffee.

Where: Bar SK, 90 Smith Street Collingwood
When: Thursday 31 August – Sunday 3 September

Need something strong on a Thursday arvo? Look no further than The Mill House’s Gin Club, launching this Thursday with special co-hosts, Four Pillars. On the saucy menu will be a number of gin cocktails, some special G&Ts, and even gin-infused canapés. And when you didn’t think it could get any better, strut through the doors at 6pm with the phrase, “Come together, get undone” and you’ll score your first G&T on the house. Get your running shoes on ‘cos this offer’s only for the first lucky 100. (If you do miss out on the day, don’t feel too bad—The Mill House will be running the Gin Club bi-monthly to November.)

Where: The Mill House, 227-279 Flinders Lane Melbourne
When: Thursday 31
