5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Greta Waters - 30 Oct 2017

Eat, drink, talk about a new café opening, repeat. It seems to be the Melbourne mantra. No matter how deep you dive into Melbourne’s world of food, Listers, there's always going to be an unusual mash-up made for your taste buds.

Whether you're #fitspo (or only have enough money for happy hour), here are five awesome things to in Melbourne this week.

Tuesday 31 October

This is no trick, Ichi Ni Nana is turning two and they're treating you to a five-course banquet. We love dressing up as much as the next (big) kid, so why not celebrate Halloween with the masters of Japanese cuisine?! Once the Ebi Mayo and cocktails work their magic, hit the Rooftop Bar for funky beats and spooky surprises.

Where: Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya, 127 Brunswick St, Fitzroy
When: Tuesday 31 October 5pm-late

FREE TEQUILA. Now that we have your attention, Section 8 is teaming up with Ocho Tequila and agave royalty Phil Bayly for a free masterclass in all things tequila. There will be free tequila tastings, tunes and prizes for all attendees. Are you sensing a theme here? Leave your wallet at home, and discover there's more to tequila than layback shots and bad decisions. Secure your spot here.

Where: Section 8, 27-29 Tattersalls Lane, Melbourne
When: Tuesday 31 October 5pm

Our fave French pub L’Hôtel Gitan is hosting the Elgee Park and Baillieu Vineyard wine dinner. Imagine hand-harvested French wine with a Jacques Reymond menu. This is the only threesome you should be paying for, and for $140 bucks this one-off collab is not to be missed. Whatever pants you were thinking of wearing, you need new ones—they aren’t going to fit after this lavish meal.

Where: L’Hôtel Gitan, 32 Commercial Rd, Prahran
When: Tuesday 31 October 7pm

Wednesday 1 November

Vegan Greek food. It’s more than just pita bread and Greek salad without the feta. Hellenic Republic is pairing traditional Greek recipes with an abundance of savoury and sweet veggies. Think charred eggplant, slow roasted fennel and kombu-braised chickpeas. For $55 per person, you can celebrate World Vegan Day by exploring the Med diet and 12 vegan dishes.

Where: All Hellenic Republic Restaurants
When: Wednesday 1 November 12-10pm

Thursday 2 November

We’ve got your Thursday night gin itch scratched and sorted. Gin enthusiasts, twice a month The Mill House is joining forces with some of Australia’s best distillers. This Flinders Lane hottie transformation is no joke, and neither is Rogue jamming while you sip on gin drinks and scoff gin-infused canapes.

Where: The Mill House, 277-297 Flinders Lane, Melbourne
When: Until November 30
