Woohoo! Four-day week! Still not entirely sure that the day before the Grand Final should be a public holiday but hey, we're not complaining. Anyway, Melbourne still has heaps to get you through the week. From burger master classes to cabaret shows at the Fringe Festival, there's even a fancy neon party to kick off the long weekend!
Here are 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week:
Kids Burger Masterclass
Trying to get your kids to eat healthy? Just make them a burger. No seriously. Head down to the Grosvenor Hotel this week and you’ll see for yourself. The guys over there are putting on a workshop that will encourage kids to enjoy cooking, teach them about nutrition and help them make their very own healthy burgers. Kids will even get to jump inside the St Kilda Burger Bar food truck and take home a goodie bag. Check out all the info here.
Come on, we had to throw something from the Fringe Festival into the mix! Vanishing Act is a cabaret act that takes a look at society’s crippling obsession with success. It promises magic, jazz, and delights with the performers disappearing right before your eyes (although we’re not sure if they really want to). The write-ups are amazing and tickets are only $32. Check out all the info here.
Veneziano are stepping their barista training up a notch this week with an intermediate brewing class. They recommend their Brewing Fundamentals class to skilled home enthusiasts or hospitality staff with a bit of experience under their belts. The class will cover different brewing techniques, extractions, ratios, emersion techniques and pour over methods. Tickets are $170 per person for a two-hour session. If you’re serious about upping your barista game then check this one out here.
Sip Wine, Nibble Cheese, Feel French
Oh la la, getting a bit fancy are we? This Wednesday Milk the Cow are welcoming Melbourne singer Raleigh Williams and her band La Nuit Blanche for a night wine, fromage, and live French music. Enjoy the full a la carte and cheese selection while listening to the gypsy/jazz sounds of the French-inspired ensemble. Tickets are $20 and include a glass of French wine. Check out the info here.
Glam-up this Thursday for the Neon Night Party at Market Lane Bar. Indulge in a snazzy cocktail menu whipped up by Four Pillars Gin’s award winning bartender, Sam Ng, and then pair that with a five-course canapé menu. Phew! If you feel like getting dressed up a bit and want to celebrate the start of the long weekend in style then check this one out. Tickets are $120 and you can find all the info here.
