Colourful decor, delicious eats and a waterfront view has seen White + Wong’s become an Auckland fave since it opened in 2016. It has another venue in Queenstown and now, it’s set to open in Newmarket.
Brought to us by Goode Group—the people behind Harbourside and Botswana Butchery—the restaurant, along with Sardine Cocktail Bar, will have a new rooftop space as a part of the $790 million redevelopment of Westfield Newmarket later this year.
The new dining precinct—Rooftop on Broadway—will feature spectacular views of Auckland and a restaurant that can cater to more than 450 people. Sardine Cocktail Bar will be perfect for those after work drinks.
While no formal announcement has been made about the food, the original White + Wong’s, and the recently released cookbook, mean that locals can expect a shared menu of dumplings, raw/cold cuts of meat, curries, soup and a selection of BBQ roast meats. Expect delicious sweet treats after your mains, such as deep fried ice cream with salted butterscotch sauce or lemongrass and pandan brulee, brown butter financier, pecan ice cream and banana coconut foam.
Further retailers will be announced in the coming months, but one thing’s for sure, they’ve started off right.
