Get ready to suit up, because after 14 looooong years, our favourite family of supers are finally back! Disney Pixar's Incredibles 2 hits theatres this Thursday, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the heavily anticipated sequel.
Incredibles 2 sees the spandex-clad Parr family face the continued illegality of superheroes while juggling civilian life and a mysterious new foe. Sounds juicy, right?
In fact the sequel picks up pretty much exactly from where the first movie left off, blasting us right back into some quality CGI action. After losing to The Underminer (soz, spoiler) the citizens of Metroville grow frustrated with the damage and destruction resulting from the Parr family's heroic efforts.
When Mr Incredible (Craig T. Nelson ), Elastigirl ( Holly Hunter) and Frozone (the indomitable Samuel L. Jackson) are given the opportunity to legalise supers by DEVTECH, we see a change of family dynamic—Elastigirl leaves Bob at home with the kids and sets off to kick some serious bad guy butt.
Bob quickly realises home life isn’t as easy as he thought, and we get to see Mr Incredible take on new foes, including middle-school algebra (we're still grappling with that one), first date woes and baby Jack-Jack’s fast developing somewhat frightening powers (what are the feeding that kid?)
And of course, you can count on fan favourite Edna Mode to make an appearance. As bold, brilliant and blunt as you remember, her small yet whimsical part will have the cinema rolling in hysterics. We've just got one question: where the heck is her spinoff?!
Fans who've been counting down the days to see the Parr family save the day again will not be disappointed. The movie is pretty predictable, in a charming sort of way, and you're in for a stylish flick, jam-packed with sly humour, wicked action sequences and comical character development. This is one sequel that really does pull off the incredible.
Incredibles 2 is in cinemas from this Thursday. Round up your super squad and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. Just remember, NO CAPES!
