New leaf kombucha taproom Auckland

Get excited Auckland because while we’ve all been bemoaning the lack of good booze-free bar options in our fair city, there’s been a hidden spot right here in Ponsonby that’s quietly attracting the interest of local hipsters, yogis and those in the know. We’re talking about the New Leaf Kombucha Taproom that’s already carving a stellar reputation for itself.

Situated just off Ponsonby Road and brewing only organic leaves from teas from trusted sources around the world, believe us when we say these kombuchas taste absolutely pure and fresh. With regular blends on tap including Indian Assam Tea, Gunpowder green tea and (our fave) Kenyan purple tea, you can grab a glass of your choice or go for a flight and sample all four, including the guest brew for just $7. When you inevitably buy a bottle or two to take away, if you bring back your cleaned empty bottle for a refill—you'll only pay $10 instead of the usual price of $12.

As if doing something good for your body isn’t enough of a draw, there’s a sprightly African Grey parrot called Diego cooly observing proceedings from his lofty perch atop his cage. Also in residence is the owner of the taproom and chief brewer, Derek Hillen. Personable and passionate about the best that kombucha has to offer, Derek gladly takes newbs under his wing to educate and elucidate on the benefits of the booch. So what are you waiting for, go do something that your body, mind and soul will thank you for.
