It’s officially the last weekend of summer so you’ll want to get out and make the most of it (not that it’s really going to cool down anytime soon). We’ve got some food for thought and a bit of art, as well as craft beer and plenty of noms. Plus, it’s the Rotto swim this weekend. Heck yes.

Here are 11 epic things to do in Perth this weekend.

Perth Writers Festival | Crawley

Perth Writers Festival kicks off tonight with the opening address from Ben Rawlence which will be addressing the moral dilemmas around refugees and displacement and will definitely give you something to think about. There is plenty on all weekend but if you can’t decide what to go to, check out our top picks here.

Friday 24 February

Ta-Ku Presents 823 | Perth

Perth producer, photographer and collaborator, Ta-Ku is holding a two-day residency at FORM Gallery to present his exhibition 'Thinking Of You'. With photos by Ta-Ku and visuals by Sam Price, the exhibition focuses on film photography, travel documentation and analogue processes. Kicking off tonight and running until Saturday, make sure you don’t miss this one.

Hip Hop Bingo | Perth

Get down to The Good Shepherd tomorrow night and get ready for some hip hop bingo. The guys from Hood Burger will be there dishing out some of the best burgers in Perth and there will be cheap jugs on offer all night. It’s a minimum gold coin donation but all proceeds go to Perth Homeless Support Group so why not dig a little deeper?

Betroffenheit | Perth

Combining comedy, drama, poetry and dance, Betroffenheit will be at the State Theatre Centre this weekend only as part of the Perth International Arts Festival. Betroffenheit follows the story of a person suffering after a terrible accident. It’s a moving story no doubt, but the choreography and performers are reason enough to go.

MANY 6160 LEAVING PARTY | FREMANTLE

Many 6160 is on the move. With the last day of trade happening last week (don’t worry the retailers are just moving over to Adelaide Street) they thought they’d better go out in style with a leaving party. There will be live music, DJs, food trucks and—of course—a bar.

Rottnest Channel Swim | Rottnest

How is it that time of year already? We don’t know, but it is, so there’s nothing you can do but get on board! If you’re not swimming, jump on the ferry and head to the Rotto pub for one heck of a day out!

Wellness By The Water | North Fremantle

Start your Saturday right with some yoga by the beach. If yoga isn’t your thing, there is also Tai Chi, meditation and personal training. Best of all, everything is free!

Craft Beer Tour | Perth

Markets In The Valley | Swan Valley

It’s the last Sunday of the month which means it’s Markets In The Valley time. There will be tastings by Ugly Duckling Wines, loads of cheese, amazing gourmet pies from Bindoon Bakery and some other bits and pieces like cheese boards and locally made art up for grabs.

Passata Masterclass And Italian Lunch | Mount Lawley

If your family doesn’t do tomato sauce day and you feel like you’ve been a bit ripped off in life, here’s your chance to do it like the Italians do. Summer Concerts: Grace Barbe | Perth

This weekend is the last of the free summer concert series hosted by the City of Vincent. For the final instalment they’ve got Grace Barbe performing, so you can expect tropical island vibes with reggae, pop, rock, African percussion and Latin influences. There will be plenty of food trucks around so grab your picnic rug and some mosquito repellent and make the most of the last Sunday of summer!
