By

We're nearing our fave time of year, when sun-soaked days blend into balmy nights and summer feasts with your faves fill the social cal. So, we’ve sussed out some seriously tasty (and super easy) prawn recipes that'll have your mates mistaking you for a Masterchef contestant with your epic skills in the kitchen.

And every good chef knows the key to their success lies in their produce, so selecting Tassal’s succulent Aussie Tiger Prawns is a no-brainer. Sustainably sourced and farmed off the coast of Queensland, their vibrant colour and sweet flavour make them the ultimate summer staple.

From peeling and deveining to learning the best way to plate yo’ prawns, we’ve got all the tasty top tips to become a prawn pro. Grab an apron and let’s get stuck in.

What's On The Menu:

Master The Art Of The Prawn Paella

Bowl of paella

Transport your taste buds to the streets of San Sebastian with a knockout prawn and chorizo paella. Combining smoked paprika, saffron and garlic, your guests will smell this unreal dish the second they walk in your front door. But one of the best things about this recipe is that despite it looking uber impressive, it’s oh-so-easy to prepare.

Using two packs of Tassal Aussie Tiger Prawns or 16 extra-large whole-cooked Tassal Aussie tiger prawns, you only have to add them at the end of the recipe and let them infuse in all of those delish Spanish flavours for a few minutes. No, stressing about serving raw prawns—Tassal has done the hard yards for you. Pro tip: keep the heads on for aesthetics, they’re also one of the tastiest parts of the prawn.

Spice Up Yo’ Life With Chilli Prawn Pasta

Bowl of pasta

Whenever we go to a restaurant, if chilli prawn pasta is on the menu, we’re ordering it because it always hits the spot. And we promise it tastes even better when you make it yourself at home. Fresh, light and perfect for summer, this beauty is a total crowd-pleaser that is simple to nail.

Want to know how to cook your Aussie Tiger Prawns to perfection? Ensure the pan is on medium heat and cook for around two minutes max (in a generous splash of your fave white wine) or until they’ve lost their translucency and turned a shade of pale pink. Then combine with pasta, chilli, garlic and olive oil and take yourself to Italy. Pro tip: serve with a chilled glass of white wine and enjoy.

Create The Ultimate Summer Bruschetta

Plate with three pieces of bruschetta on it

Aussie Tiger Prawns are perfect for all types of occasions and this uber-tasty prawn, tomato and goat's cheese bruschetta is proof of that. Ideal for an entree at a dinner party or a fresh and delicious lunch idea, this dish is packed with vibrant hues of red and orange and looks almost too pretty to eat.

The first step you need to nail is peeling and deveining your Tassal Aussie Tiger Prawns—trust us, it’s easy. Start by removing the head (just twist and pull), and tail (twist and pull again), then peel the remainder of the shell from top to bottom. To devein, use a small sharp knife to slice a line along the spine of the prawn which will expose a dark vein. Gently remove the vein and you’re all done. Then it’s just roasting your tomatoes and goat's cheese in the oven, assembling on a crusty baguette and top with your delicious prawns. Chef's kiss.

Elevate Your Taco Game

Three tacos in a tray

Explore the world of flavour with Tassal's Aussie Tiger Prawns and these next-level tacos. Mix up a couple of jugs of chilli margs, string some colourful papel picado around your digs and throw the ultimate Mexican fiesta for your crew.

You’ll be seriously impressed with these zingy flavour bomb tacos (think: lime, paprika and cumin) that use cooked Tassal Aussie Tiger Prawns, so the hard part is already done for you. The key to this dish is all in appearance—simply peel and devein (you’re a pro at this by now we know), but leave the tails on for a more authentic look. Serve on flour tortillas and because everyone will want seconds, best to double the recipe just in case.
