Bar Rogue, The New Wine Bar From Le Rebelle, Is Now Open In Mount Lawley

By Claire Logan

Liam and Sarah Atkinson—the duo behind the much-loved French eatery Le Rebelle—are spreading the Beaufort street love, with a new two-tiered wine bar arriving just in time for summer drinks.

Bar Rogue has taken over the space once home to Jungle Noir and Mykonos at 515 Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley, giving the 75-person small bar a sleek glow-up that feels grand and comfy all at the same time. Just picture exposed brick walls, velvet curtains, ornate tables handcrafted in Fremantle, and a mix of timber and concrete flooring. It'll be the kind of place you can easily set up for the evening, with plenty of seating to suit cute date nights through to your boozy group get-togethers.

At the bar, Sarah’s dedication to all things delicious is front and centre. The wine list is packed with local gems and smaller producers, with bottles from Aussie and international vineyards, magnums pouring by the glass and rare finds that’ll have all the serious wine nerds swooning. You’ll have much more to play with aside from just good wine, though, with classic cocktails and an extensive lineup of aperitifs and boutique tipples on offer. Plus, plenty of easy drinking, low alcoholic options perfect for smashing back on a balmy summer evening.

Anyone addicted to Le Rebelle’s outlandishly delicious bar snack—the iconic crab toast—will be glad to hear you’ll have some similarly amazing bar snacks to nibble on here. This menu, however, won’t be leaning into one specific cuisine, instead focussing on easy eating and quality produce, with around a dozen small share plates all designed for enjoying over drinks. Think fresh finger sandwiches with crisp chicken skin and lashings of butter, a one bite taco named ‘The Lobster Super-Crunch’, sweet n’ sour short ribs, a duck egg custard with abalone and mushroom and a ‘COLD fried chicken’ with caviar and fromage blanc that will no doubt be on the top of everyone’s list. There’ll of course be oysters around too, as well as some standup veg dishes, plus, a decadent sticky date pudding waffle that’ll be hard to walk away from.

Bar Rogue is open 4pm 'til 11pm Thursdays to Saturdays and 2pm 'til 10pm Sundays.
