When it comes to keeping fit, it’s no secret that us Perth peeps love a little adventure. If chalking up, scaling walls, belaying your mates and suffering the occasional harness wedgie sounds like your kind of fun, it might be time to plan a rock climbing day out.

Whether you’re chasing a new fitness fix, a weekend challenge, or—let’s be real—some belly laughs (because who hasn’t been frozen mid-wall, clinging on for dear life with a healthy mix of sweat and regret?), then strap in. Literally.

Here are the Urban List’s teams pick of the best indoor rock climbing spots in Perth.

Adrenaline Vault

Belmont and Cockburn

Equal parts workout and social sesh, Adrenaline Vault is one of the best spots in Perth to test your strength, coordination, and problem-solving skills—all while having an absolute blast. With bouldering at both spots and top-rope and lead climbing at the Belmont gym, this is a choose-your-own-adventure kind of place, whether you're flying solo, climbing with mates, or teeing up a cute and active date.

The climbs are switched up regularly, and there are beginner-friendly routes through to gravity-defying challenges for the more advanced. “Climbing’s one of the most fun ways to move your body,” says owner Chris Chin. “Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned climber, we’ve made sure the vibe is welcoming, energetic, and community-driven.”

Expect big walls, great coffee, and plenty of good vibes. “What makes AV special is the atmosphere—it’s not just about the climbing,” Chris adds. “You walk in and there’s music playing, people laughing, kids climbing alongside adults, and everyone’s kind of in it together. It feels more like a big hangout than a gym sometimes.”

A casual day pass will set you back $23, with gear hire available on top. And if you’re keen to sharpen your skills, sign up for one of their bouldering or lead climbing courses—perfect for building confidence and meeting fellow climbers.

And yes, it's an epic date idea. “It’s active, fun, and there’s way less pressure than sitting across from someone at a dinner table,” says Chris. “You get to laugh, encourage each other, and maybe show off a little (in the best way).”

Rockface

7B Ledgar Rd, Balcatta WA 6021

When it comes to indoor climbing in Perth, Rockface is an institution. As the city’s biggest and safest climbing venue—with walls reaching up to 9 metres and over 100 climbs on offer—this place is a must for both casual climbers and die-hard chalk fiends. There are 26 top-rope climbs, a world-cup spec bouldering wall, a dedicated kids’ zone and even a lead wall for the pros, so no matter your skill level, you’ll find something to grip onto (literally).

What keeps locals coming back is the ever-evolving routes, thanks to their in-house team of creative setters who shake things up weekly. You’ll also find Perth-made climbing walls built from Aussie ply and steel, a chilled-out seating area, a ProShop, hot showers, and even snacks and drinks to refuel post-climb. BYO food is also welcome, especially if you’re swinging by for a team-building sesh.

Casual entry starts at just $10 if you’ve got your own gear, with full hire and all-access passes also available. And if you're chasing a midweek adrenaline fix, swing by on Wednesday nights after 5pm for half-price entry. No need to book unless you're a big crew—just rock up and climb.

Oasis Climbing

2/26 Harris Rd, Malaga WA 6090

A true community hub for climbers of all ages and skill levels, Oasis Climbing is all about growth, confidence and connection—with a healthy dose of sweat and sore forearms. Tucked away in Perth’s northern suburbs, this local fave has earned its stripes with over 120 top-rope and lead routes, a dedicated 80sqm bouldering wall, and an outdoor replica of the iconic Dreamcatcher route in Canada for those wanting a real challenge.

The vibe here is welcoming and social, with a crew of passionate climbers, personal trainers and coaches (some of whom still compete) ready to help you push your limits. Whether you're trying top-rope climbs up to 10m, testing your grip strength on lead walls, or playing on the steep bouldering problems, there’s plenty to get your heart racing. Bonus: the gym also boasts a solid training zone with calisthenics gear, campus boards, kettlebells and more.

Adult day passes are $20, with gear available to hire, and there's no need to book if you’re rocking up solo or with a small crew. Kids aged 4 and over are welcome to harness up and join in too, and if you're after something a little more structured, keep an eye out for their youth programs and adult coaching sessions.

Portside Boulders

Joondalup, Osborne Park, O’Connor, Willetton

With locations scattered across Perth and a cult-like following of climbers, yogis, and fitness lovers alike, Portside Boulders has built a serious community vibe around the sport of bouldering. No ropes, no harnesses—just you, the wall, and a crash mat below. With over 100 boulder problems on offer at any one time (rotated every four weeks), there's always a new challenge waiting to be conquered.

Each location has its own flavour, but expect laid-back energy, good tunes, and the kind of crowd that’s as happy chatting over a post-climb pizza slice and craft beer as they are hanging upside down on a 4.5m wall. Alongside the climbing, you’ll also find yoga classes, calisthenics gear, and even remedial massage depending on the gym—because why not?

A day pass will set you back $22 and gets you access to the full facility, including the bouldering zones, gym equipment, and training areas. No bookings needed, just rock up and get stuck in. Pro tip: if you're northside, check out the Osborne Park gym—home to Portside’s flagship West Coast Blocs comp and a serious hotspot for the climbing elite.

The Boulder Hub

1/2/84 Berriman Dr, Wangara WA 6065

If you're keen to climb but can't rope in a mate, The Boulder Hub has you covered. As Perth’s first dedicated bouldering and training facility, it’s built for solo crushers, total beginners, and pro climbers alike—no ropes or harnesses, just 4m-high walls, thick crash mats, and a whole lot of chalky satisfaction.

Inside you’ll find up to 100 problems across two ever-evolving bouldering rooms, with routes reset weekly so there’s always something new to conquer. “Climbing has the ability to be so many different things,” says co-owner Christina Bedard. “It offers a multitude of challenges and rewards that constantly evolve with life.” You’ll also find a full training studio decked out with all the gear—from rings and ski machines to monkey bars and Olympic plates—plus an upstairs ‘cool room’ perfect for projecting in peace.

Beyond the epic setup, the real magic here is the community. “Any time you go into a bouldering gym and fall off something, people will come up and offer advice—even if they don’t know you,” says youth coach Max Pare. “Everyone’s super friendly and wants to help you climb better.”

Drop in for $21, or grab their killer $40 Starter Pack, which includes three sessions and shoe hire. And if you’re keen to progress, don’t miss the free monthly clinics focused on strength, technique, and confidence-building.

Urban Jungle

83 Solomon Rd, Jandakot WA 6164

Climbers, listen up—Urban Jungle brings together all three Olympic disciplines under one roof: bouldering, lead climbing, and WA’s only official speed climbing wall. Whether you’re harnessing up, sprinting for the stopwatch, or sticking dynos on the boulder wall, this all-in-one mega gym offers something for every level of climber, from total rookies to national-level crushers.

The bouldering zone is perfect for social solo climbs—no ropes, no belayers, just short, punchy problems set across all levels (V0 and up), with fresh routes rotated regularly to keep you on your toes. Prefer ropes? Perth’s tallest indoor climbing walls await, fitted with top-rope and lead setups, plus auto-belays if you’re climbing alone. And if speed’s your thing, the 10m official IFSC-standard route is calling. “It’s the exact same setup used in international comps,” says the team, “so you can race your mates—or your own PB—just like the pros.”

Day entry starts at $24, or $34 with shoe, chalk, and harness hire. Staff are super friendly and safety is top notch, with inductions and helpful coaching to ease you in. Whether you're climbing for fitness, community or pure adrenaline, Urban Jungle’s got the walls—and the vibes—to match.
