Editor's Note | 27 December 2021: Please refer to the latest COVID announcements and take note that all festivals are cancelled, nightclubs are closed and only seated food and beverage consumption is allowed at licensed venues until Tuesday 4 January so many of the below events have been cancelled or postponed.
Dust yourself off from New Year's Eve, there are plenty of reasons to keep the celebrations going into the new year—assuming there are no further COVID restrictions put in place, of course. From food and booze-filled day parties to chilled evenings of live music, here are the best New Year's Day parties in Perth to help you welcome in 2022.
Sunset Sessions At Canteen Trigg
New Year’s Day is Canteen Trigg’s first evening of Sunset Sessions, which will carry on every Saturday in January. From 5pm-8pm you can listen to live music, sip on a pint and munch on good food in Canteen’s alfresco area. Sounds like an ideal spot to admire the first sunset of 2022.
New Year’s Day At Fremantle Arts Centre
Every NYD the Fremantle Arts Centre hosts a wholesome sundowner with live music on their shady lawn, which is just what the doctor ordered. Grab your mates, a picnic rug and settle in for a balmy evening of reggae, blues and world music. Food and booze will be available to purchase, too. Buy tickets and suss the lineup here.
Ceviche Y Cerveza At Indigo Oscar
Spread over two days and four sessions, Ceviche Y Cerveza will celebrate Latin-inspired eats and drinks at the newest Cottesloe hotspot, Indigo Oscar. This island party will have live beats, heaps of sangria, cold beer and zesty bites—such as pork belly tacos with pineapple, crispy chicken with hot sauce, kingfish and scallop ceviche. On a hot summer’s eve, overlooking the pristine shoreline, this sounds like a cracking way to start the new year.
The Gog Block Party
Three awesome venues inside The Old Synagogue are joining up to bring you one epic block party this New Year's Day. Spread over The Arbor, Mr Chapple and L'Chaim, as well as the nearby car parks, there’ll be six stages, 20 DJs, market stalls, a silent disco, an Aperol lawn and more to keep the vibes high during the first day of 2022. This Block Party is also running over NYE if you’re keen to party it up at midnight too. Only final release tickets are up for grabs, so get onto it asap.
Primary At Ice Cream Factory
Spend the first day of 2022 lapping up the last Ice Cream Factory of the season. Scoff down a burger from Varsity to cure your hangover from the night before, then go wild at the multiple themed bars, carnival rides and silent disco, while roaming around enjoying the feel-good tunes. First release tickets are only $25—grab yours before they’re sold out.
Banana Social
Banana Social will take over Elizabeth Quay this NYD, and you can expect the drink stations and DJs you know and love. Tickets are pretty affordable, so rally up the entire friend group for a night of non-stop fun. Tickets can be found here.
Suited NYD
The stunning Cottesloe Civic Centre, with its ocean views and flourishing gardens, will be home to a Hamptons-themed afternoon this NYD. Rummage out your best whites and prepare to while away the afternoon on daybeds with oysters, champagne, cocktails and canapes. They’ll even be a pop-up bar from the legends at Pirate Life, plus live music and DJs. Tickets are almost gone, so grab yours right now before they’re gone for good.
