Vegans of Perth, we are happy to report that chefs all over this fair city have heard you loud and clear, and are creating dishes that aren’t only ethically sound, but also innovative and delicious!

Here are Perth’s best vegan-friendly cafes. (Editor's note: not all of these establishments are 100% vegan so naturally review the menu or give them a buzz before going!)

Swan Valley Cafe

Millendon

It might not look much from the front, but once you’re off the beaten track of the wine and cheese sampling folk, meander into the lush garden setting of Swan Valley Cafe for some quality vegan tucker. This vegetarian cafe has a host of vegan dishes and options—the pile of buckwheat chia pancakes with blueberry, orange and maple compote or banana and maple butter (word to the wise, you can have both and it. is. everything) is ace and the extensive vegan options for lunch will eventuate in meal envy. Their coffee is sourced from Vic Park lords of the caffeine, Antz Inya Pantz, and all the vegan milks you could wish for are on offer (including almond milk made in-house). Gluten-free peeps rejoice as all bread comes from Strange Grains Bakery with not an iota of gluten to be seen.

Eat Drink Raw

West Leederville

Eat Drink Raw is the newborn of the vegan Perth cafes, launched into the world and green hearts of health food lovers earlier this month amidst the blossoming foodie zone of West Leederville. Owner May Tan has been delivering her wholesome vegan foods to businesses for 14 months before trying her hand as cafe owner (deliveries will be up and running again soon). Guests are greeted by her high wattage smile and a tempting array of raw vegan lunches and treats (I personally recommend the deliciously crunchy and flavoursome raw kale slaw with smokey barbecue walnut crumble—five noms). The cafe would be 100% raw vegan except they pay homage to the local coffee crowd and whip up a mean regular latte. Get on it.

The Raw Kitchen

Fremantle

This is the mecca of vegan eats, with all of your cravings from your former meat and dairy eating life likely to be satisfied here (hello nachos, old friend). The Raw Kitchen packs a lot of flavour into their plant-based cuisine with an abundance of herbs, crisp salads and nut cheeses drenching your tastebuds with flavour. Wash it down with one of their glorious juices or smoothies, which are packed with all the superfoods. This Freo gem is also gluten and refined sugar free, so your body will virtually levitate with good health post-meal.

Henry Saw

Perth CBD

Vegan-friendly espresso bar Henry Saw takes hipster chic to a new level. Nestled in the Museum of Perth (#culture) with an entry off Grand Lane, Henry Saw is one heck of an edgy trendsetter and we want to sit there allllll day. Grab a vegan breakfast on the go with the coconut cream soaked chia, berry and granola pudding, beat the heat with an icy virgin coconut mojito or up your street cred in the office with a lunch meeting over a pile of zoodles (zucchini noodles). Afternoon pick me ups never looked so good either with the range of sweet treats on offer. Vegan donut perched on an iced latte? Twist my rubber arm…

Pearth Organic Kitchen

West Leederville

Oh West Leedy, you saucy little up-and-comer! The soft timber and white decor at Pearth Organic Kitchen is almost as fresh as the food. The acai bowl is spot on but If you’re looking for something more substantial, the macro bowl is what health foodie dreams are made of. Wash it down with a cup of golden milk (its yellow hue comes from turmeric), which is said to have anti-inflammatory and calming effects.

Flora & Fauna

Northbridge

What it lacks in size, Flora & Fauna more than makes up for in heart and vegetarian deliciousness. Squeezed into an 18sqm alleyway space, the menu features plenty of daintily decorated vegan (and gluten-free) brunch dishes such as the herby smashed avo or the bruschetta with heavenly gluten-free quinoa bread from Strange Grains Bakery. Save room for one of the homemade raw sweet treats.

The Little Shop of Plenty

Maylands

So, being all like, friendly to vegans scores you a spot on this list but let’s nominate this one for the vegan-besties category. Only a cheeky few animal products pop up on The Little Shop of Plenty's largely vegan menu of nourishing delights. We can’t say no to ice cream for breakfast so the answer’s always “yes” to cocowhip parfait, but a plate of all the vegan goodies in the form of The Little Shop of Plenty’s paleo plate is the ticket. Or the raw pizza. No, wait, the abundance bowl. Making a decision will be the hardest part of your lunchtime visit, so take a pal and share.

Veggie Mama

Mount Lawley

This little lady mightn’t look like much from the front, but Veggie Mama pumps out some of the most scrumptious vegan nosh in Perth. The menu is vegetarian but hosts plenty of fine vegan options like their hearty curries, goodness-stuffed patties and superfood salads. It’s the perfect place to grab lunch on the fly.

The Juicy Beetroot

Fremantle

The beets aren’t the only purple you’re likely to come across at The Juicy Beetroot, keep your eyes peeled for hungry Fremantle Dockers’ players packing in the vitamins at lunchtime. It’s not fancy fare (or decor), but it’s tasty and wholesome with plenty of salad options to load up your bowl with. Skip down Tum Tum Tree Lane for a good value plate of nourishment with an epic side of delicious.
