WA Gourmet Escape

The most delicious time of the year is upon us. Western Australia Gourmet Escape is hitting our great state from 8 to 17 November, and this year it’s not just stopping at Margaret River—Perth and the Swan Valley are scoring some tasty events too.

Here’s everything you can’t miss.

Perth

The Sicilian Job At Santini

Australia’s Sicilian godfathers are coming together for one night only. Santini’s Nic Wood is welcoming Ciccio Sultano (of Duomo in Sicily) into the kitchen to help plate up a wood-fired six-course dinner paired with WA wine. You don’t want to miss this one.

Redefining Modern Australian At Wildflower

You’ll get the chance to devour the Western Australian food rainbow at this exclusive dinner which will see Wildflower’s Matt Sartori and Cheek’s Rishi Naleendra (Singapore) create a five-course dinner that redefines modern Australian cuisine. On the menu you’ll find Manjimup marron with coconut and lemongrass broth, grilled dorper lamb with Jerusalem artichoke, wattleseed and turnip, and Geraldton wax sorbet.

Swan Valley

Tex-Mex Takeover At Mandoon Estate

Jess Pryles, also known as the Hardcore Carnivore, is heading to the kitchens of Mandoon Estate in Caversham on 8 November to create a Tex-Mex feast with executive chef Michael Hartnell. Dine under the stars as you gorge on smoked lamb ribs, fire-cooked chilli lime bavette steak and a Texan peanut brittle pie. Tickets available here.

Gourmet Feast In The Valley At Sandalford Wines

Sandalford will play host to this two-day food fiesta/music festival mashup on 9 and 10 November. The Rubens are headlining and top chef Marco Pierre White will be there to wow you with his cooking finesse. Create your own gin with Old Young’s, get among the fire pit feast and work your way around the many food trucks as you sip wines from WA’s best producers.

Margaret River

Safari Club Cookout At Leeuwin Estate

Described as a “moveable feast over fire” the Safari Club Cookout takes place among the stunning marri and jarrah trees of Leeuwin Estate. There are three sessions happening over two days, each one as different as the next. You could be noshing on a native BBQ with Matt Stone from Oakridge and Jock Zonfrillo from Orana in Adelaide one day and heating up with a Thai feast courtesy of David Thompson of Long Chim and Garima Arora, Asia’s top female chef, the next. Get tickets to them all.

Gourmet Beach BBQ At Castle Rock Beach

The beautiful Castle Rock Beach will set the scene for this gourmet BBQ feast bringing together Momofuku’s David Chang, Icebergs Dining Room’s Monty Koludrovic and, our own local heroes, Scott Bridger (Bib & Tucker), Kenny McHardy (Manuka Woodfire Kitchen) and Brenton Pyke (Market Eating House). There are three sessions to choose from depending on your flavour.

Estate To Plate: A Locavore Experience At Voyager Estate

Locavore is without a doubt one of Bali’s best restaurants, and one of the legends behind the regional Indonesian-style restaurant is headed our way for Gourmet Escape. Ray Adriansyah will partner up with the super talented Santi Fernandez of Voyager Estate, for this exclusive Estate To Plate dinner. And of course Voyager will be pouring plenty of their tasty wines.

Gourmet Village At Leeuwin Estate

You can’t do Gourmet Escape properly without a visit to the Gourmet Village. Along with a hefty amount of amazing food and wine, there’ll be workshops teaching you how to make everything from gnocchi to kombucha pickled veggies, a chance to try beer yoga, an oyster and fizzy drink bar for the ultimate refreshing break and a travelling leather workshop from R.M.Williams on hand to deck you out in some new boots.
