Gourmet Escape is back better than ever with 30 lip-smacking foodie events rolling out across Margaret River, Swan Valley, Perth and for the first time ever, Rottnest Island, this November.
Now, if you’re yet to dip your toes into the wonderful world that is the Gourmet Escape, it’s basically like a big, food-filled vacay, except better, because there’s also wine (a lot of it), plus beautiful West Australian beaches, lush vineyards, top chefs and good vibes all round. Think of it as the foodie's answer to Coachella.
Who’s Coming
The fest has had incredible Michelin star chefs from around the world in the line-up in years gone by (we mean HUGE names like Heston Blumenthal, Nigella Lawson, Rene Redzepi and more), and while COVID does make it a little tougher, this year’s list of 30+ local culinary legends will not disappoint.
Returning faves like Curtis Stone, Rick Stein, Shannon Martinez, Colin Fassnidge, Matt Stone, Guillaume Brahimi and Guy Grossi will be teaming up with local talent on some super cool events. And icons such as Stephanie Alexander and Maggie Beer will also be in the house, alongside a new wave of wine talent and loads more local superstars.
Plus, they've just announced a slew of new events featuring the likes of Lennox Hastie (Netflix Chef’s Table BBQ and Sydney’s Firedoor) and Paul Carmichael (former Momofuko Seiōbo), who team up for the ultimate fire-roasted feasting event: Into The Fire, as well as Palisa Anderson (chef, restauranteur and author), Mike Bennie, James Halliday and more.
What’s On
Events-wise, there’s pretty much something on offer for everyone. If you’re after chill beachy vibes with top-notch food, be sure to book a spot at the Gourmet Beach BBQ or join Brendan Pang for Swings, Beats and Bites at the picturesque Swings & Roundabouts. To explore a little more, definitely grab a ticket to The Village (they’re only $25!), or splash out on an elevated multi-course wine dinner with Rick Stein at Leeuwin Estate.
Other awesome events to get around this year, include:
- Harvest Feast—a garden-fueled feast at Yarri Restaurant in Dunsborough with chef, restauranteur and author Palisa Anderson and celebrated local Chef Aaron Carr.
- Into the Fire—an exploration of all things cooked over flame at Larry Cherubino Wines in Margaret River with Lennox Hastie (Netflix Chef’s Table BBQ and Sydney’s Firedoor), Paul Carmichael (former Momofuko Seiōbo) and celebrated wine writer Max Allen.
-
Rottnest Sunset—a dreamy alfresco feast at Pinky’s Beach Club with Rick Stein, Colin Fassnidge and Mike Bennie.
-
AGWA Rooftop Wine, Dine & Disco—a vibing disco party under the night sky at the new rooftop bar and event space on top of the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
-
Grazie Mille (A Thousand Thanks) Dinner—the ultimate Italian supper at Sandalford Estate with icons Stephanie Alexander, Maggie Beer and Guy Grossi.
-
The Vineyard Party—a lush wine dinner set within the stunning grounds of Leeuwin estate, with a vintage-inspired menu led by Magdalena Roze and other celeb chefs.
-
Coward & Black International Rosé Tasting—a three-course long table lunch overlooking the vines at Coward & Black’s spectacular cellar door with the undisputed queen of rosé, Ellin Tritt and the legendary James Halliday on hand to guide you through some of the world’s best rosés.
And for anyone looking to pop over from interstate (borders permitting), the good news is that you'll be able to transfer event tickets to a mate, save them for next year, or request a refund if you're unable to travel due to government restrictions. Love that!
Our only suggestion? Decide quickly, round up your crew and jump on tickets stat, as these things tend to get snapped up fast.
