The Sunshine Coast has more than its share of beautiful farm stays to get you back to nature and help you find that zen place you lost in the city somewhere. We’re not talking about pitching a swag by the side of a paddock; we’re talking about sweet mountain cabins and heritage cattle farms with space to roam free and experience a taste of farm life. However, if you're keen to BYO swag, there's also ample opportunity to camp under the stars.

Get back to nature and scroll on for nine of the best farms you can stay at on and around the Sunshine Coast.

Mayan Farm

Noosa Hinterland

If you want the farm vibes but not the rustic accommodations, Mayan Farm is the spot for you. Sitting on more than 100 acres in the Noosa hinterland, the farm is home to cattle, horses, ducks and sheep, but it also now hosts those with only two legs, thanks to a luxe rammed earth villa on the property. With an alfresco deck, pizza oven and a plunge pool (just to name a few of the amenities), all overlooking the wide open farmland and countryside views. The villas sleep up to eight, so split the bill and take your whole crew.

Wittacork Dairy Cottages

Set on over 300 acres of pure Queensland rainforest, Wittacork is, to this day, a working dairy farm and is listed as a Land for Wildlife registered property, making it a haven for native fauna. Spend a couple of days here and you'll certainly feel as though you've gotten back to nature; watch the farm's cows being milked, or hang on the banks of Lake Baroon (if you stay a night or two make sure to watch the sunset across the lake from your self-contained cottage). With kilometres of walking tracks and Obi Obi Gorge National Park to explore, Wittacork is the perfect farm homestay.

Branell Homestead

Located just outside Laidley, in the stunning Lockyer Valley area, Branell Homestead is your classic country bed and breakfast with an oh-so-luxurious twist. With two main accommodation options on offer—the rustic, cosy homestead or your very own suite in a luxury cabin overlooking the rolling green hills of the property—Branell is the perfect home away from home if you’re down with the country life but aren’t too keen on getting hands on with animals. The 80-acre property features a private lake, complete with a jetty for fishing, an old-school library perfect for vegging out in and a deck practically made for wine and nibbles as you watch the sunset. Branell Homestead has made a name for itself as a truly stunning wedding location, and if that doesn’t emphasise just how gorgeous it is, we don’t know what will.

Clandulla Cottages And Farmstay

Scenic Rim

If rural country charm is more your thing, Clandulla Cottages and Farmstay are about to blow your mind. This farm stay was voted as one of Queensland’s best farm stays and has all your traditional farm activities and animals (including an adorable miniature horse) and combines them with a number of luxe suites that scream wholesome nights curling up by a log fire. Spend your time playing with a plethora of baby animals or grab a book and chill out underneath a shady tree in a quiet corner of the gorgeous property.

Bunyip Springs Farm Stay

One word: alpacas. A weekend spent on the 620 acre Bunyip Springs Farm Stay in Maidenwell may well include walking and feeding their resident alpacas, and frankly what more could you want? You'll also get a real taste of farm life with milking, egg collecting and hand feeding dairy calves, before retiring to your private country cottage.

Tommerup’s Dairy Farm

Scenic Rim

Tommerup’s Dairy Farm is the true-blue farm stay experience that’ll make your organic-loving heart jump for joy. This sixth generation family farm  is all about the farm-to-fork experience, combined with a love of holistic farming and a good ol’ fashioned family atmosphere. We’re talking helping the Tommerup family milk cows, picking chemical free vegetables for your very own country-style feast at the end of the day and picnic hampers perfect for finding a sweet spot to drink in those Scenic Rim views. Oh, and did we mention their rustic-chic cabins can fit up to five people? Weekend getaway plans with the squad are definitely sorted.

Charlotte Plains

If you're looking for the ultimate authentic farm stay experience then Charlotte Plains has your name on it. A 70,000 acre working cattle property, you can choose to experience the true outback lifestyle with camping facilities across the property or, if you prefer a few creature comforts, you can stay in Charlotte Plains' bed and breakfast. As well as being pet friendly, Charlotte Plains is renowned for its Great Artesian Baths as well as 4WD tracks, endless walking trails and endless opportunities to check out local wildlife.

Cedar Glen Farmstay

Animal lovers, this one’s for you. Cedar Glen Farmstay is situated on over 1000 acres of lush green pastures, all framed by the wild beauty of Lamington National Park. Your traditional farm stay activities abound, including animal feeding, alpaca encounters and cow milking, however the real highlight of Cedar Glen is their guided cave tour which treks through the foothills of the stunning Lost World Valley. You’ll gain a sense of Indiana Jones-esque adventuring as you explore the five huge caves on the Cedar Glen property.

Keira Farm

A 500 acre working cattle farm on the edge of the Scenic Rim, Keira Farm is the perfect tranquil escape from city life, only forty-five minutes from Brisbane. The Farm offers accommodation in the form of cottages and glamping tents and the option to bring your own tent, with stunning views of the Flinders Ranges as well as the opportunity to see more stars than you've ever seen before. As well as farm animals, you'll spot plenty of native animals on the property, including a resident family of kangaroos.
