Where To Celebrate Yo' Mama This Mother's Day

By Zoe Kirby - 28 Apr 2016

What’s Mother’s Day on the Sunshine Coast without food? But seriously, there is no greater way to celebrate your mum and everything she does (let’s face it, it’s ALOT) than by taking her out for a more-ish family breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Or all three. The more the merrier.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching (May 8, guys and gals—note it!) and disorganised and panic-stricken adult-children scattered across the Coast, we thought we’d offer a helping hand with this list of all the best places to take mum for her special day.

Gainsbourg | Mooloolaba
With a menu like Gainsbourg’s, there’s no qualms that it probably made your mum’s list of places to go this Mother’s Day on the Sunshine Coast, let alone yours. Do yourself a favour and upload a photo of you and your mum, tag @__gainsbourg__, and you’ll be in the running to nab a free breakfast and coffee for you and your mum this Mother’s Day. Now, wouldn’t that be fab?!
Details: Open from 6.30am

The Velo Project | Mooloolaba
Of course we couldn’t miss these guys off the list, especially when they’re pros at looking after the vegan mamas out there. The Velo Project will be serving from their regular epic menu, which they’ve just updated with even more drool-worthy dishes. Order the slow-braised borlotti beans topped with baba ganoush for mum, and you’ll be in the good books until the next Mother’s Day around.
Details: Open from 7am-3pm

My Place | Coolum
Sick of your mum whinging that you’re always on your phone? Make her one the happiest of mums on the Sunshine Coast and take her to brekky at My Place, where you can surrender your phone for a drink on the house. With fab food and stunning oceanviews on offer, it’s totally worth holding off on that Mother’s Day Insta post until later in the day.
Details: Open from 7am-9pm for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Beau’s | Caloundra
For one of the best starts to a Mother’s Day on the Sunshine Coast, show yo’ mama she’s a quality mum with a top notch breakfast at Beau’s. With a range of quality dishes from Everyday Avocado to Deep South—each and every ingredient, is the best it can possibly be. That means nitrate-free bacon, free range eggs and organic paninis. Get on it.
Details: Breakfast served from 7am-11.15am

Thomas Corner Eatery | Noosaville
It’d be impossible for mum not to LOVE dining at this modern-style eatery. With Noosa River views, and a lunch menu influenced by local flavours, it’s pretty much a sure thing that she’ll be impressed by Thomas Corner Eatery, big time. Not only that, but every mum will receive a free Mother’s Day gift on arrival! That’s two birds with one stone guys.
Details: Standard lunch menu. BYO wine!

Locale | Noosa Heads
Seriously, who doesn’t love Italian? With some pretty spectacular dishes on Locale’s Mother’s Day three-course lunch menu, including their astounding potato gnocchi, you really can’t go wrong. Oh, and we have to mention the chocolate nemesis cake with malted milk gelato, salted macadamia nougatine, and spiced rum cream… ummm, bellissimo! All mum’s receive a glass of Prosecco on arrival, too. Happy days!
Details: $79 per person, 12pm-3pm

Wood Fire Grill | Noosa Heads
Got younger siblings? No worries! Enjoy a long lunch at Wood Fire Grill, with a share plate plus two sides for the whole family. Complete with riverfront ambience, entertainment for the little ones, and a box of choccies for mum. Perfect or what?

Embassy XO | Sunshine Beach
Get your mum-cha on at Embassy XO. A Sunshine Beach favourite, scoffing yum cha here is a must-do for visitors, and easily makes our list of the best offerings for Mother’s Day on the Sunshine Coast. Make sure you try the specialty XO sauce with your Asian delicacies. You’ll thank us later! Sittings are at 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Noosa Boathouse | Noosaville
Spoil your mum by digging into the divine al a carte menu at Noosa Boathouse, complete with everything from freshly shucked oysters to a killer slow-cooked beef short rib. Drool. Or, for something super spesh, order the Seafood Tower and Shared Chocolate Dessert Plate (oh em gee) laden with all the seafood and chocolatey goodness imaginable. OR, (yes there’s more) food coma it up with a four-course shared feast, for a taste of everything that these guys do best.
Details: Al a carte menu: standard pricing. Four-course shared family feast: $59 per person (minimum four people). Shared three-tiered Seafood Tower and Chocolate Dessert Plate: $64.50per person (minimum two people). Oh, and all mums receive complimentary chocolates.

Bistro C | Noosa Heads
Featuring an award-winning a la carte menu, plus an epic beachfront location to match, Bistro C is the perfect place to wine and dine your special lady this Mother’s Day on the Sunshine Coast. Enjoy some mother-child bonding time, watch the daylight fade, and clink a few glasses of champers before devouring mouthwatering meals.

Wild Rocket | Montville
If you’re looking for somewhere that appeals to the whole family, Wild Rocket might just hit the spot. As well as being fancy enough to satisfy mum, this Montville restaurant will also impress dad with its glorified micro brewery and delicious food that exceeds expectations of “pub-grub”. We think a day mooching around the hinterland followed by dinner at Wild Rocket sounds like the perfect plan.
Details: Lunch from 11.30am-2.30pm, dinner from 5.30-8pm.

Mother’s Day Cruise | Mooloolaba
We’re on a boat! We’re on a boat! Okay enough, but what a fab treat that would be? Spoil your mum with a sunset cruise along Mooloolaba’s harbour, river, and canals. Sunset vistas, champers, and dinner on board… bliss! Plus, mum will receive a complimentary drink on arrival, that’ll settle her sea legs.
Details: Departs 5pm

Ikatan Spa | Doonan
If your mum deserves a good pampering session (and hey, you totally do too), book in for a Mother’s Day package at Ikatan Spa. Enjoy a massage and facial, complete with a luxury session in the Balinese gardens with a glass of champagne or T2 Tea in hand. Don’t mind if we do!

The Float Space | Mooloolaba
For the ultimate in relaxation and pampering, book yourselves into a float pod at The Float Space this Mother’s Day. Floating in total darkness in a giant private spa bath? Sounds right up our alley.
