Good news—you’re in for a heap of awesome events that will make saying goodbye to summer a little bit easier. From a food festival to a gin celebration, a rock festival and penguin encounters, you’re set for a pretty epic February.
Here’s the coolest things to do on the Sunshine Coast this February.
Get your dancing shoes on ‘cause a huge rockabilly festival is rolling into town! The Rockabilly Festival will be rolling into Nightquarter for one night only and it’s set to be a rockin’ wild night. 1950’s rockabilly music will be grooving all night across two stages, showcasing favourites such as Colt Seavers Band, Breaking the 8 and more epic acts. Take a step back in time and check out the vintage American car show and pin-up fashion competition. Once you’re all danced out, chow down on some finger-lickingly good slow-cooked American BBQ.

Gin Night At Boston Shaker Bar
Calling all gin lovers and Valentine’s Day rebels! An epic gin tasting is coming to the Boston Shaker Bar on Monday 15th February, showcasing the much-loved Patient Wolf gin. This Melbourne crafted gin is a local favourite and if you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out. This gin-tastic night features gin tastings and chocolate pairings, Patient Wolf specialty cocktails and your own takeaway boutique gin. Take-home gin? We’re there.

ECO Surf Fair
Squeeze the last few drops out of summer and embrace the sunshine at this brand-new event, aimed at raising both environmental and surfing awareness. Double win! The ECO Surf Fair is kicking off for the first time in Coolum and is full of family-friendly activities to keep the little ones (and big ones) busy. Entertain the kiddies with face painting, a beach dig, sand sculptures and the SLSC picture art gallery. While they’re kept busy, grab a snack at the food vans, browse the range of market stalls or quench your thirst at the pop-up bar.

SEA LIFE Penguin Encounters
Playing with penguins? Of course, we’re listening. SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast has launched their brand new In-Water Penguin Encounter this month and we’re officially in love. Venture behind the scenes inside the Little Blue Penguins’ habitat, where you can meet the flippin’ adorable colony and treat them to a fishy feast. This exciting experience will also show you how the SEA LIFE team cares for the precious penguins and explain how you can play your part in protecting the species in the wild. Tickets to see these loveable creatures are essential and sell quickly, so secure your spot ASAP.

Swim Under the Sunshine Coast’s Best Waterfalls

Relax to the tunes of homegrown Sunny Coast artists AYLA and Will Clift who will be gracing the stage with their originals and classic songs you love and know.

Love is in the air this month, so let’s show a little love to our oceans and do our part in making the planet a better place. Join the Sea Shepherd team on their Beach Cleanup Day as they clean up beautiful Mooloolaba Beach, which is sadly being frequently polluted by litter. Pack your gloves. sunscreen and water bottle, slip on your closed-in shoes and you’re ready to get out there and clean up our beaches. It’s only a few hours of your time, but the impact is huge and good karma is headed your way.

Skating Rink For Flies
Sometimes you need a little somethin’ somethin’ to pick you up and have a little laugh at. Thankfully, this world is full of hilarious people who have made a living out of their one-liners. Enter: Carl Barron. Voted number one comedian two years running, Carl is one of Australia’s most accomplished comedy performers and is currently touring his latest show, Skating Rink For Flies. Strap for a night of belly laughs, where Carl ponders important things like the possible emotions of an ant and peanut butter. Tickets are selling quickly, so grab them now.

Waitangi Day Nightquarter
Home of our weekend entertainment, the iconic NightQuarter is celebrating everything that is New Zealand this Waitangi Day. Inspired by the land of the long white cloud, cultural performances, music and entertainment will be going all night. A true melting pot of global sounds, with strong New Zealand and Pacific Island influences, the entertainment will showcase performers such as DJ Beau, Drums of the Pacific and Hemi Time.
