Sofitel Sydney Wentworth was Sydney's first-ever five-star hotel when it opened in 1966. In 2024 the Sydney CBD hotel underwent a $70 million makeover, completely refreshing the 436 guest rooms and suites, adding two restaurants and two bars, and transforming the Phillip Street entrance into a striking modern space.
Once the largest brick structure in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s striking horseshoe design and prime Sydney CBD location has maintained its position as one of the best hotels in Sydney.
Rooms and suites are dressed with modern furnishings and soft sculptural details evoking the design of the ‘60s, with MySmart lighting, Balmain amenities and Wellness Bags stocked with a roller, yoga mat, resistance bands, handles, and ankle straps for workouts in-room or out in the nearby Botanic Gardens.
Leading local restaurant group House Made Hospitality operates four venues within the revamped Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, including the open-air Wentworth Bar, Vietnamese-French restaurant Delta Rue, and ground-floor restaurant tilda and bar tilda.
Guests are greeted with a grand lobby taking inspiration from an old Sofitel tradition of being guided to their room by candlelight, with comfortable lounge settings, self-check-in stations, and direct access to tilda and bar tilda. While the candles are gone, the generous hospitality remains from the first greeting—in French, of course.
