Here’s How You Can Score Free Beer And Celebrate This Summer

This classic Surry Hills pub has had a facelift, and boy does it look good. Headed up by Maurice Terzini (Icebergs and Da Orazio) and his team, the space is modern and bright, providing three different spaces for guests: a Dining Room, a Wine Room and a Public Bar with an open-air terrace.

Bondi’s iconic Hotel Ravesis has had a complete make over, transforming into a flamingo pink paradise just in time for summer.

The latest installation of the newly refurbished Stokehouse precinct, Pontoon is now open! Boasting an 18-metre long bar as soon as you walk in, the team at the new St Kilda casual eatery has our priorities in order. The menu features hand-held and share plates, like fresh sardines with harissa, a pulled beef brisket toastie with manchego, and grilled king prawns. There's also a range of wood fired pizzas, giving us just the right amount of casual Mediterranean vibes. 

In true Irish-style, The Last Jar’s hearty, homely meals will keep you warm and jolly through the cold weather. Offering traditional meals made with fresh, local ingredients, the menu gives Melbourne one of the most authentic Irish feasts. Anything that can be house-made, is. From cured salmon to hand-churned butter, the possibilities are endless at The Last Jar. 

Sitting in prime position on Brunswick Street Mall next to Fortitude Music Hall, The Sound Garden is Fortitude Valley's epic new bar and restaurant that will take your next Valley night out to the next level—literally. Taking over two massive floors with space for 700 punters, the split level venue even has a verandah overlooking the Brunswick Street Mall, perfect for a bit of late night people watching on a Saturday night. 

Pig n Whistle bar on Brunswick Street is a modern take on an authentic British pub and restaurant, housed in a warm and surprisingly chic space, with two outdoor beer gardens for patrons to soak up some sun, pint in hand.

Iconic Perth Restaurant The Subiaco Hotel really is the beating heart of Subi. Standing the test of time and still a fave amongst many of the Subi locals, it's open for brekky, lunch, dinner—and drinks in between! The food here is next level. We can never resist the slow-cooked lamb pappardelle but the 100-day grain fed Harvey Beef sirloin is pretty bangin' too. Dont go changin too much Subi Hotel, we luv ya!

Part of the City Beach redevelopment, Hamptons is dishing out breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks with a view. Head in for brekky after an early morning swim or grab a beer and watch the sunset. Dinner is absolutely delicious—may we recommend the braised beef short rib?—but make sure you save room for dessert! One visit here and this might just be your new summer hang-out.

The Coast’s first ever beach club was always going to be an absolute game changer for locals and visitors alike but one step inside, we can confirm it lives up to the hype. Boasting sweeping views of Burleigh beach down to the Surfers Paradise coastline and with enough room for 600 people, beachside cocktails just got a whole lot better.

One of the most iconic venues in Brisbane, and renowned for its prime CBD location (read: post-work drinks), The Port Office has survived floods, multiple renovations and over a century of history, having first opened its doors as The Shamrock Hotel back in 1864. Most recently, a massive kitchen fire almost gutted the grand old pub, but it's back, better than ever, ready for you to take a seat and be poured a glass of history. 

With uninterrupted views of Surfers Paradise from 77 floors up, Peppers is the perfect retreat/resort/hotel all mixed into one. There’s the Seaduction Restaurant and Bar (we see what they did there), where you can chow down on the freshest local seafood, as well as the intimate wine-tasting room (self-explanatory). There’s also a sauna, heated pool and spa. What better place to treat yo’self?!

Since opening in 2003 in Fed Square, Transport Bar has become an iconic local watering hole. The sun-drenched bar is as central as you can get—making it the perfect spot for an after work refreshment. For sports fans, it doesn’t get much better than two enormous screens dedicated to all the live action.

Maurice Terzini has done it again. Bondi get keen for summer because Bondi Beach Public Bar has arrived and you better believe you’ll be heading here for a spritz every weekend. This pub is (like The Dolphin) a post-mix free zone, so every cocktail is fresh AF, plus the wine list, created by sommelier James Hird, is damn good.

In this fair city of ours where our favourite Sydney pubs are closing doors far more than we would like, it’s good to know that an old favourite is reopening. After closing its doors in 2014, The Carrington has reopened its doors, bringing joy and deliciousness to Surry Hills yet again.
