Paris and Henry Mitchell Temple aren’t your regular couple. A quick glance of their accomplishments show a duo who have seemingly conquered the world—Paris, a co-founder of the wildly successful womenswear label Paris Georgia; and Henry, a restaurateur who’s graced New Zealand with Annabel’s and East St. Hall.
We joined the pair in their beautifully designed Ponsonby home, adorned with ceramic trinkets and commissioned art collected over the years. Throughout the day, we rode along with Paris and Henry in the latest fully electric Lexus RZ 450e to get a glimpse into their ultra-chic, ultra-busy lives.
So, how exactly do the pair find time to inject subtle luxury into their jam-packed schedules as parents and sustainably conscious empire-starters?
The Little Things In Life
“Nowadays, it’s the simple pleasure of listening to music or a podcast on the way to a meeting or having a glass of wine with Paris at the end of the day.”
If, by the off chance you’re strolling through Paris and Henry’s neighbourhood, you might just hear Evening Star by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno floating through the air as Paris and Henry cheers to another productive day.
Paris echoes Henry’s sentiment—in one of many displays of couple goals—while adding, “Low-key luxury is something that’s just for you; it doesn’t matter about anyone else’s opinion.”
Immaculate Craftsmanship
When Paris isn’t busy designing dresses rocked by the likes of Lady Gaga and the cast of Euphoria, the fashion mogul is constantly finding new ways to incorporate her general attitude towards life into her work—and vice versa.
“Obviously, for me at work, I design hardware for garments, constantly looking at textiles and colours, you can’t help but have that transcend into other areas in your life—whether it be interiors, custom-making furniture, or art you admire. We share the same passion for this.”
Paris and Henry’s eye for detail is reflected in every aspect of their lives, right down to their mode of transport. As they run a minimum of three businesses between themselves, cruisin' around in a “big, roomy car” that reflects their lifestyle and oozes luxury is a no-brainer.
Sustainability At The Forefront
As members at the top of their game in their respective fields, Paris and Henry feel it’s imperative that their output reflects a forward-thinking approach when it comes to sustainability.
“As a restaurateur, it’s a big part of all our decisions. We're constantly learning about how we could be better,” Henry told us.
“We work with winemakers who have strong agricultural values, and we compost and source our menu items with seasonal products.”
Paris suggests that quality is the key to slower fashion: “From a design perspective, we have a responsibility of making garments that last a lifetime in a wardrobe; pieces that stand the test of time.”
Investment pieces are in; fast fashion is out. Spread the word.
