5 Brilliant Events To Check Out In Brisbane This Week

By Shannon Coward - 02 Oct 2017

Psh, move over Monday blues, Brisbane has a jam-packed schedule of things to do this week. We’ve found everything from all-you-can-eat tacos to a charity event you won’t want to miss to the unveiling of Uniqlo’s brand new Nintendo-themed t-shirt collection with a bang. See what we mean, there’s no time to turn into a couch potato this week. Plus, it's a short week, so you should be doubley fired up to get out and about.

Intrigued? Here are five awesome things to do in Brisbane this week.

Wednesday 4th October

All You Can Eat Tacos For International Taco Day

This Wednesday your stretchy pants are going to get a work-out they won’t soon forget. The legends over at Beach Burrito Fortitude Valley have devised an evil plan: for a measly $50 you can earn access to all you can eat tacos for two and a bottle of house-made sangria. We’re talking everything from shredded beef to chilli con carne to fried chicken tacos and you can keep going back for more without the judging eyes of your peers (looking at you, Barbara on a diet). Just make sure you book in quick, spots are filling up fast (understandably). For more information, click here.

Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair

Creatives of Brisbane, it’s time to get your wallets ready as the Craft & Quilt Fair rolls into town this week. Think five whole days of displays, hands-on classes, expert talks, demonstrations and guest artists at your fingertips. And that’s all before you get to the show floor, where every type of craft and quilt supply known to man will be available for purchase. If you’ve got a new project in mind or are looking for inspiration for the next big thing, the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair has more than got you covered. Go on, treat yo’ self. For more information, and to get tickets, click here.

Friday 6th October

Nintendo Pop-Up At Uniqlo

Uniqlo will be unveiling their brand new t-shirt collection, produced in partnership with Nintendo, with a bang this Friday. Taking place at the Queen Street store from 10am, the festivities include a Mario Kart championship which might net you a Nintendo Switch and TV for setting the fastest lap. Yep, along with getting a first look at the brand new collection, you might just head home with a Nintendo Switch totally free-of-charge. Uh, where do we sign up? For more information, click here.

UQSSS 10th Anniversary x Makan Night

The UQ Singapore Student Society is celebrating their 10th anniversary with flair this Friday. Combining the special occasion with their yearly Makan menu, the event will see a variety of cultural performances, games and lucky draws popping up on UQ’s St Lucia campus. And don’t even get us started on the photo booth and henna booth. The menu for the night includes authentic bak chor mee and halal nasi lemak, all for $10. Great for the tastebuds and the wallet, how can you go wrong? For more information, click here.

Brisbane Light The Night

The Friday night events just keep coming this week, guys. To raise money and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation, the South Bank cultural forecourt will come alive with a sea of paper lanterns. Volunteers from all over Brisbane will be picking up their lanterns and wandering along the river in the name of a very good cause. Live music will abound before the event, along with a selection of Brisbane’s finest food stalls. Scoring a killer dinner AND getting to support charity? Don’t mind if we do! For more information, click here.
