This weekend is all about filling your plate, with the return of Brisbane’s lush gourmet festival, Providore Park. As for all the vegans and vegos who are used to shouting “What about me?”—the final Vegan Expo ever is happening this weekend. Or, if you need to work up an appetite, there’s a rodeo, dance exhibition, and even a mega garage sale to up your step count.

Providore Park

Spend your weekend tasting your way through Brisbane’s best food and drink at Providore Park. With both free and ticketed events set in the lush Roma Street Parklands, there will be plenty of gourmet experiences to enjoy. Take a stroll through The Village, a delicious marketplace with over 40 artisan stalls to munch your way through or grab a drink at the Peach Pit Cocktail Lounge, paired perfectly with live music. Espresso Martini Week

Sabrina Carpenter isn’t the only one all about the espresso. Neighbourhood bar Patio is teaming up with their good mates at Coffee Supreme to turn the spotlight on espresso martinis for five days this August. Featuring five exclusive variations, you can get your hands on salted caramel, white chocolate and pistachio, carajillo, spiced rum, and the best classic in town. The limited-time-only menu will be paired with an Italian tiramisu, making this the most delicious way to get your caffeine hit. Book here

Taiwan Film Festival

All those film buffs looking for the perfect evening—you won’t want to miss this year’s Taiwan Film Festival. Showcasing a range of hand-picked cinematic masterpieces from some of Taiwan’s most inspired filmmakers, the line-up is one not to be missed. Opening night features Daughter’s Daughter—a carefully curated story of generational wounds and redemption. The programme also includes screenings of classics such as Flowers of Shanghai (1998) by the legendary Hou Hsiao-Hsien, based on the novel by Han Bangqing. Tickets start at $18, so grab some popcorn and get ready for a night at the movies. Whether you’re flying solo this weekend or a film novice, this festival might just open your eyes to a whole new world.

Brisbane Vegan Expo

Go out with one final plant-based feast as the Brisbane Vegan Expo is back this month for the last time. This iconic celebration of all things vegan and delicious is sadly leaving us in 2025, since launching in 2018 to showcase all the ways you can embrace a greener lifestyle. Naturally, you can expect the final hurrah to be an absolute banger—taking over the Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August with vegan food, cruelty-free fashion, sustainable homewares, and live cooking demos. Even celebrity chef and MasterChef royalty Simon Toohey will be in attendance to share his zero waste tips and flavourful approach to plant-based cooking. Get your tickets here.

MoB Common People Dance Project

Shimmy and shake your way to the Museum of Brisbane (MoB) for their sequin-soaked Artist in Residence with Common People Dance Project. In collaboration with Brisbane Festival, MoB is throwing an all-out dance party—complete with free dance workshops and an exhibition celebrating the Common People’s history, led by the talented choreographer, performer and theatre-maker Neridah Waters. To top it all off, there’ll be a dance showdown in King George Square on 27 September, so chuck on those leg warmers and get physical, because nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience

Grab your wands and venture into the awe-inspiring woods of Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton, as the breathtaking Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience is kicking off this weekend. Here, a dazzling light trail will guide you through illuminated moments from the world of Harry Potter. Under A Modern Sun

Sun-kissed and light-filled, QAGOMA’s new and free exhibition features more than 140 paintings, sculptures, photographs and works of decorative art that paint a picture of what life was like in the Sunshine State from the 1930s to 1950s. Featuring art from renowned Brisbane-based artists including William Bustard, Vida Lahey and Margaret Olley, as well as luminaries from the regions such as Kenneth Macqueen and Joe Alimindjin Rootsey, Under A Modern Sun presents a “light-filled vision of Queensland and reveals the beginnings of more experimental means of expression," QAGOMA Director Chris Saines says. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?

Eonarium Enlightenment

A captivating and immersive experience that’s already wowed 1.5 million people worldwide is set to turn up the lights in Brisbane this winter. Eonarium Enlightenment is making its Australian debut at St Stephen’s Cathedral—treating you to a breathtaking feast for the senses with vibrant light projections, stunning visuals, and alluring soundscapes to the tune of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. You’ll travel through spring, summer, autumn and winter across the 30-minute show, with every corner of the heritage-listed site transformed into a world of colour in this one-of-a-kind 360 degree adventure. Up Late at the Judith Wright Arts Centre

If your curiosity usually gets the best of you, spend an evening at the Judith Wright Arts Centre this Friday. For one night only, Outer Space and the Institute of Modern Art (IMA) present DEMO 2/4:  the second installment in a series of after-hours events filled with live performance art, experiments and installations. It’s free to attend and will showcase artists from across the country, including Michelle Le Plastrier, Max Athans and Allison Chhorn. You won’t go hungry either, with food stalls and drinks to sip on throughout the night. So stay up late and have a gander through this art experience that’s all about straying from the known into the unknown.

Mega Garage Sale

Your next favourite thrifting find is waiting at the Mega Garage Sale in Rocklea. Technicolour Multicultural Festival

This one’s for the fam packed with all the classic festival fun. This year’s Technicolour Multicultural Festival is bursting with culture, colour and joy. Think rides, a giant jumping castle, and even puppy cuddles for the kids (and the adults, too). Get creative in the Art Competition by channeling your inner Picasso, or curl up with a book from the mobile library. There’ll also be artisan markets to wander through and a fabulous range of food stalls serving flavours from around the world. It’s free entry and all about celebrating Brisbane’s rich cultural diversity in the most fun way possible.

Tamborine Rodeo 

Giddy up, round up your pals and head to the Tamborine Rodeo for a sweet taste of country life. Just 45 minutes down the road, Woodstock Farm is hosting Gill Bros Rodeo for some bucking fun. All you’ll need is a few camping chairs and maybe a cowboy hat to really get into the spirit, while the picturesque rolling hills of the Tamborine Mountain landscape do the rest. There’ll be food trucks and a licensed bar open from 1pm until late. Tickets start at $20 for kids and $35 for adults. Saddle up for one stonking Saturday here.

Labels On The Lawn

Got expensive taste but can’t quite stomach the designer price tags? This is the fashion event for you. Labels on the Lawn is your opportunity to bring some pre-loved and new designer clothing into your wardrobe rotation without breaking the bank. Prices are capped at $200 and all proceeds from the day go towards Women's Legal Service Queensland, supporting women and children impacted by domestic violence. Your ticket gets you two hour access to the sale in small groups of 25, and after you’ve shopped ‘til you drop there’ll be food, live music and a bar on the front lawn of Hanworth House for you to enjoy.
