Annie

It’s a hard knock life but Brisbane has plenty of reasons to celebrate with a season of the ever-popular Broadway musical Annie coming to town. The nationwide tour will be taking over QPAC’s Lyric Theatre this December with a star-studded cast proving exactly why Annie is one of the most awarded and loved musicals of all time. From Broadway talent Anthony Warlow returning as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks to the original Yellow Wiggle Greg Page in his first musical theatre role as President Roosevelt, Annie is a surefire hit the whole family will love. Little Shop Of Horrors

This smash-hit Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi musical is set to bloom once again at QPAC with the long-awaited revival of Little Shop Of Horrors. Make A Scene: Fashioning Queer Identity And Club Culture In The 90s

Take yourself back to an iconic era of Australian queer culture with Queensland Museum's latest free exhibition: Make A Scene. The fashion-forward 90s showcase features all things colour, camp, pop culture and community—from fearless self-expressions of LGBTQIA+ identity to the Brisbane-based labels that defined the era. Coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality, the immersive exhibition is your chance to engage with personal stories that unfolded on the underground nightclub and dance party scene. It’s glamorous, it’s moving and it’s full of pride.

Prison Island

Under A Modern Sun

Sun-kissed and light-filled, QAGOMA’s new and free exhibition features more than 140 paintings, sculptures, photographs and works of decorative art that paint a picture of what life was like in the Sunshine State from the 1930s to 1950s. Featuring art from renowned Brisbane-based artists including William Bustard, Vida Lahey and Margaret Olley, as well as luminaries from the regions such as Kenneth Macqueen and Joe Alimindjin Rootsey, Under A Modern Sun presents a “light-filled vision of Queensland and reveals the beginnings of more experimental means of expression," QAGOMA Director Chris Saines says. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?

The God Of Small Things

From international dolls to ornamental eggs and wind-up toys, Precious covers the rare, beautiful and intriguing while honouring the dedication and stories of Brisbane enthusiasts. The free exhibition is worth a visit for the sheer scale and variety alone, with objects from some of the city’s most fascinating institutions (think the Embroiders’ Guild QLD, Queensland Maritime Museum, and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia QLD) sitting alongside lovingly gathered curiosities that capture a truly unique side of the people that call Brisbane home.
