Get Festive In The City With These Unmissable Christmas Events Going Down In Brisbane

By Ranyhyn Laine

No matter how old we get or how busy our lives become, each year we still get just as excited for the onslaught of Christmas events that merrily overtake Brisbane. Whether it’s the lighting of the iconic King George Square Christmas Tree, the sweet sound of carols permeating the air or watching the annual City Hall light display, there’s nothing quite like Christmas in Brisbane.

So, to help you get your elves in a row, we’ve rounded up every festive event you need to check out in Brisbane City this silly season.

Lighting Of The Christmas Tree

We never tire from seeing a towering, 22 metre tall Christmas tree light up in all its glittering glory—and this year we can once again do it in person. Make sure to catch the Lord Mayor's Lighting of the Christmas Tree presented by The Lott by Golden Casket on Friday 26 November at 6.30pm, with Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner himself doing the lighting, accompanied by live musical performances of Christmas classics. For those who can't make it, the lighting of the tree will also be live-streamed on the Brisbane City Facebook page, so you can catch it from home. If you miss the festivities, don’t stress, it will be lighting up each night until  Thursday 6 January. It’s open and free to attend for all your Christmas Instagram glory.
