What’s up, dog? If your household’s suffering from a case of untamed zoomies, a trip down to the p-a-r-k (you know you’ve gotta spell it out to avoid pointy, prying ears) is a surefire way to burn off some steam. Luckily, when it comes to pooch-friendly off-leash areas, Brisbane/Meanjin ranks among the top dogs, with over 160 to take your pick from.
From riverfront views to sprawling, fetch-friendly lawns, we’ve lined up the best dog parks Brisbane has to offer to get those tails wagging, including plenty that have had some recent upgrades (because here at Urban List, we keep an eye on these things). Go ahead and jingle those leashes: this one’s sure to be a treat.
Bulimba Riverside Park
57 Addison Avenue, Bulimba
As the king of Brisbane’s activewear and riverfront cafe scene, it’s no surprise that Bulimba’s dog-friendly sections are as ‘gram-worthy as the rest. Eye-catching Riverside Park is as much a treat for humans as pooches, with river views looking out to Teneriffe and an undercover area for the hotter hours.
Teralba Park
120 Pullen Road, Everton Park
Who let the dogs out? Everyone, apparently, if you’re strolling by Teralba Park past knock-off. After some nifty upgrades late last year, the area’s looking schmicker than ever, with new seats, pathways, and play areas among the score. The inner-north crew rate this spot for its split big dog and small dog areas, agility equipment, and popularity–meaning lots of puppy friends for your furrier half to play with.
Kedron Brook
11 Johnston Street, Gordon Park
Every man and his dog knows Kedron Brook for its meandering paths and shallow creek beds. It’s worth noting that this is an unfenced off-leash area, so make sure your pooch’s recall is good. If you can swing it, it’s definitely up among Brisbane’s best pup-friendly areas, with plenty of room to wander and splash in the shallows–just keep an eye on the signs for the off-leash boundary markers.
Ducie Street Park
58 Ducie Street, Darra
Westsiders, you’re barking up the right tree. Just off the Ipswich Motorway, Ducie Street’s sprawling greenspace is a fast favourite among families. Recently, the dog park scored a new area for smaller pooches, more shaded shelter, and agility equipment for practising those clever tricks.
Paten Park
45 Paten Road, The Gap
Welcome to the jungle: we’ve got labs and Danes. In recent years, Paten Park has scored a few nifty upgrades that you won’t spy in many other dog parks, including a huge sandpit play area and a split-log activity beam. Hey, fur-kids need playgrounds too!

Abbeville Street Park
Abbeville Street, Mount Gravatt
Calling all two- and four-legged social butterflies. As far as foot (er, paw?) traffic goes, Abbeville Street is right up there, so you’ll have plenty of puppy-romping opportunities in the afternoon hours. Shoutout to the thoughtful toy baskets and adorable bench seats plastered with paw print patterns.
Faulkner Park
80 Waratah Avenue, Graceville
Sniffing out something different? Set on the banks of the Brisbane River, the views at Faulkner Park will have you racing there faster than a whippet. The shady space holds fast to the Graceville vibe–that is, leafy, shady, and perfectly paired with a Sunday morning coffee.
Powerhouse Park
133 Lamington Street, New Farm
In this dog-eat-dog world, let’s face it: some dog parks are just better. Sitting pretty on the Brisbane River, Powerhouse Park is a fave among the inner-city crew for its cafe-adjacent location, towering jacarandas, and close proximity to the Jan Powers Farmers Markets, which run every Saturday (and are, of course, pup friendly).
Crosby Park
103 Crosby Road, Albion
Albion’s dog-eat-dog concrete jungle seems to melt away at Crosby Park, where towering trees and meandering walkways take hold. The much-loved off-leash area boasts separate spaces for your bigs and littles, and all the amenities you’ll need for a doggo’s day out.
Elanora Park
74A Wynnum North Esplanade, Wynnum
If you’re in and around the east side, chances are good you’re familiar with Elanora Park. The bayside greenspace is, in a word, massive, with bike parks and mangrove boardwalks bordering one of the biggest dog parks we’ve ever seen. Needless to say, you’ll be able to throw that tennis ball as far as your doggo’s legs can take them.
Curlew Park
74 Curlew Street, Sandgate
Given that this dog park has its own dedicated Facebook group (yes, seriously), it’s safe to say that our northern pawrents seem to enjoy this one. It’s a great spot, after all: the park borders Cabbage Tree Creek on one side, and the foreshore is just a few streets to the east. After exploring this option, we’d be surprised if your pup keeps their eyes open for the car ride home.
Kroll Gardens
Duffield Road, Clontarf
Shout out to those of you with high-drive dogs. Just down the road from the local dog beach, Kroll Gardens offers a whopping five hectares of space for a pre- or post-swim wander. Check out the walking paths, challenge your pup with the activity gym, or just kick back while they make new furry friends. Hot tip, though: pack the mozzie spray.
