5 awesome things in melbourne this week

It’s going to be a tough week in Melbourne, folks, because we’ve got to bid adieu to our beloved friend… summer. As always it’s a cruel goodbye but at least we’re sending it off in style. We recommend tasting a Tiki cocktail, building your own #flowercrown, hitting up the relaxed races at Caulfield Racecourse and finishing up with a final goodbye at Polepole’s Zoofari Goodbye Summer beach party. Otherwise, if you’re happy to farewell our summery friend you can attend Shaynna Blaze’s interior design workshop and transform your home into an autumn friendly space.

Check out our list of the 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Tuesday 23rd

A Window into Interior Design with Shaynna Blaze | Hawthorn Arts Centre

We’ve all had that moment when we hate that we aren’t as funky fresh as Shaynna Blaze in the interior styling game. It usually occurs on our couch as we binge watch The Block and question our throw pillow choices… we swore orange was the new black. Well, never fear. Shaynna is popping up at the Hawthorn Arts Centre for a one-hour seminar that focuses on all things renovating, decorating and how to ‘claim your space’. This one is open to anyone with a penchant for the home improvement thang. It kicks off at 7.30pm and it is $38 per person, click here to book tickets now. Your home depends on it.

Flower Crown Workshop at WorkShop Melbourne | Fitzroy

The time has come when you need to declare yourself a prince or princess and don your own handmade flower crown. Well, thanks to WorkShop Melbourne and Rhesida Davies you’ll be able to weave and braid flowers to your hearts content this Tuesday night. Running from 6.30-8.30pm, you’ll learn to make a beautiful Polynesian style flower crown using 100% natural and biodegradable materials. Not to mention the all-important care instructions so you can keep the crown prospering for as long as humanly possible. Tickets are $90 per person. Click here to book online now.

Friday 26th

Tiki Time! Cocktail Tasting at Courtyard Cantina | Immigration Museum

Well, $25 for THREE cocktails ain’t so bad. That must be why the amazing Tiki Time Cocktail Tasting sesh is back by popular demand. You heard us, Fred Siggins of Black Pearl fame is back behind the bar mixing us up Mai Tai’s, Hurricanes and Pina Coladas for our thirsty selves. It’s a comprehensive demonstration and sip-athon that runs in conjunction with the super kewl Courtyard Cantina at the Immigration Museum. The only problem is that it’s selling like hotcakes, so you need to book ASAP to make sure you get one of these special tickets. Click here to book now.

Saturday 27th

Zoofari at Polepole | CBD

Guys, the sun is about to set on our perfect summer… and we’re sad. The only thing that can get us out of our pre-autumn funk is to at least give our special buddy the send-off it deserves. And Polepole are doing just that: they are throwing a super kewl Zoofari Goodbye Summer beach party that includes body and face paint, drumming, dancers and DJs. Entry is FREE and the cocktails are $10, which basically means it’s the cheapest night out ever. Get down to Little Collins Street this Saturday for the ultimate farewell.

Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day | Caulfield Racecourse

You know that raceday rulebook you follow every Spring Racing Carnival? Well, chuck it straight in that overflowing wardrobe and waltz to Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday in your most relaxed attire, folks. Finally, Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day is here for you – and the theme of the day  is #relaxedracing. That’s something we can get around. Kick back on the Dilmah Summer Lawn with a craft beer or cider and enjoy the trotting horses and live music. To make sure you don’t miss out, click here to buy tickets now.

Partake in a fun run and then get shot by cannons filled with illuminated paints? Why, yes please. The Illumi Run is the very definition of a ‘fun’ run. Your mission is to run/dance/skip/crab-crawl through glowing dance zones to the Neon Paint After Party where you’ll groove into the night covered in all types of fluorescent blobs of paint goodness. It’s going to be a glow-fest as the ultra violet lights catch the messy spectacle. Individual tickets are $60 per person and include a t-shirt, LED glasses, LED foam stick and a special party pack. Quickly, click here to book your running spot now.
