After 70 years of pumping out piping hot Bombolini-style jam doughnuts at Queen Victoria Market, ADK (American Doughnut Kitchen) is setting up its first shop front at Prahran Market. This means southsiders can finally include ‘doughnut run’ on their weekend do-list.
The news has just dropped that the institution will open its doors this weekend. That's right, expect to queue as they deep-fry up some delicious goodness, starting Saturday, 6 July.
To celebrate the opening, American Doughnut Kitchen Prahran Market will offer free doughnuts and free puppuccinos to the first 200 shoppers this Saturday from 9am.
"This expansion has been a long-time coming and is a testament to our family’s commitment to creating moments of delight and connection,” says Belinda Donaghey, managing director of American Doughnut Kitchen.
“Our doughnuts are not just a treat; they are a symbol of tradition and indulgence.”
Some of the perks of a brick-and-mortar store include a brand-spanking new coffee machine so you can get your caffeine and sugar hit all in one fell swoop. Expect no recipe changes to what is considered some of Melbourne’s best doughnuts, but do get ready to nab several limited-edition collaborative doughnuts lined up for 2024.
Alongside ADK in the bustling market precinct is some of the best delis and specialty food stores in Melbourne such as Maker and Monger, Market Lane Coffee, Morning Market, and recently revamped G.McBean Family Butcher.
