Finding it hard to get out of your comfy doona cocoons Listers? We totally understand. Luckily, there are a fabulous number of festivals and markets running all through May to get you motivated and moving. 

Whether it’s fresh produce, scrumptious street food or a hard-bargain you love, we’re sure one of these distinctly Melbourne markets will get you up and excited!  

Queen Victoria Market’s EuroUnion

Commencing on the 3rd of May and running every Sunday through the month, you won’t even feel the cold at Queen Vic’s European food fest. Soul-warming street food is the feature of the day, with the best of Melbourne’s Italian, German and Greek restaurants on offer. Still not interested? 400 Gradi will be joining the EuroUnion festival. Better run before it’s all sold out!

Round She Goes Fashion Market 

If you’re struggling to find a Mother’s Day gift this year, the Round She Goes Market may be the right Melbourne market for you. Featuring 60 stalls with some of Melbourne’s best vintage fashion and accessories, we’re certain you can find something here for mother dear (and yourself). Since the entire event is indoors, this one is great for a rainy day.

The Sisters’ Market 

Showcasing the best of Melburnian creativity and design, The Sisters’ Market is home to some of the city’s most beautiful boutique items. The wide array of mismatched stores proudly display high-quality, often handcrafted one-of-a-kind items. If you’re looking for something unique, you’d be mad to miss this May Melbourne market.

Fed Square Book Market 

Here at the Urban List, we’re proud of being a bunch of book-nerds. So when we heard of the Fed Square Book Market we simply had to share! Conveniently running every Saturday in the heart of Melbourne CBD, choose from over 5000 new and used books. There isn’t just literature either—the range includes historical titles, gardening, travel, art and children’s novels, making it a perfect family-friendly event.

Slow Food Farmers Market

The usually serene Abbotsford Convent transforms into one of Melbourne’s biggest fresh food markets, the Slow Food Farmers Market, on the 4th Saturday of every month. Boasting some of Melbourne’s freshest produce straight from farmers, growers and makers, this is one shopping spree you can feel good about. Every single dollar you spend goes back to the people who put the beautiful produce in your hands. Yes, yes and yes!

Brunswick Flea Market 

Tucked away in the car park of Howler, the Brunswick Flea Market is heaven for the vintage-obsessed and bargain-lovers. Boasting some of Melbourne’s best hidden gems and distinctive pieces, you’ll spend all day exploring every unique store and stand. And afterwards, why not pop next door to Howler for a drink or snack?

Rose Street Artists Market

Home to one-of-a-kind art and design items, the Rose Street Artist Market is THE place to go this May. We know the crushing feeling of someone else wearing the same thing as you, Listers. We know it far too well. It’s lucky for you then, that everything on offer at Rose Street is something you really can’t find anywhere else! This event is perfect for window shoppers and browsers, with everything from fashion, to art, accessories, homewares and more!

Camberwell Market 

We just couldn’t leave this one off the list. Running every Sunday of the year, the famous Camberwell Market is one Melbourne market close to our hearts. One of the largest outdoor events in Melbourne, the market boasts a whooping 370 stalls. Anyone and everyone can hire one of the 180 stalls to sell, well, anything they fancy! The sheer number of stands available means we can almost guarantee you’ll find anything you’re after at a reduced price. Shop away!
