Ora Specialty Coffee brings great coffee to Pakington Street in Kew. The small, intimate, corner cafe packs a punch with some of Melbourne's best breakfasts on the menu. Grab a newspaper and soak up the sun on the streetside benches.

Another caffeinated derivative from the Brunswick East Project, the South Melbourne Market offshoot of Padre coffee serves the southern shoppers well. This corner aisle outlet supplies take-home bags of single origin roasted beans, many being trade aid and organic. It's also a nice pit stop for a cuppa with a sweet or savoury snack to break up the harried hustle between stalls.

Padre coffee has sprouted across Melbourne over the years – you may have sipped at their original HQ, The Brunswick East Project on Lygon Street, in the CBD or at their two market locations. In 2012, they opened at the Queen Victoria Markets on aptly coined 'String Bean Alley' and have been keeping market goers perculated ever since. This Padre shipping container will fulfill all your coffee supply/addiction needs with the usual ever changing seasonal single origin menu and various coffee geek gadgets.

Among the Vietnamese mile of Victoria Street in Richmond is a subtle grey building that houses all manner of hidden wonders within. The National Hotel, or 'the nash' to those in the know, is a cool and casual modern pub, dishing up the usual tipples, plus a delicious array of Asian-inspired bites and meals. The best part is the open air beer garden, great for gathering a group for a sunny Sunday session. At night it's strung with lanterns, adding to the oriental infused charm.

The Royston is a true-blue Melbourne pub. Located down in the Industrial estate of Richmond, this relatively hidden local has won the hearts of many across the city for its charmingly clandestine feel. Inside, you're greeted with a dimly lit centred bar with a whole raft of classics on tap including; Balter Hazy IPA, Stone & Wood's Pacific Ale. 

Located on Brunswick Street, where the iconic Gypsy Bar once stood, The Rum Diary Bar is an ode to (you guessed it) rum. From Cuba to Venezuela, this bar is stocked with over 125 rums sourced from far and wide. Sample a cocktail from the impressive list – their Dark and Stormy, mixed with a house-made syrup of fresh ginger, coriander and chilli, is an absolute knockout. Not a fan of the gold stuff? Don't dismay – they have a stellar selection of Australian craft beers, wines and non-rum spirits available to keep all tastes happy. What's more, they've recently upgraded their courtyard and are now dishing up delicious street food with Spanish, South American and Carribean influences. Did someone say char-grilled corn with chipotle butter and manchego...?

Located in Kew, Oscar & Wild has brought a much-needed dose of sartorial style to Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Known for its impressive range of Australian and international designers, this boutique stocks cult brands alongside more unique, harder-to-find labels. A must-go for any woman worth her J Brands.  

Hidden behind a somewhat austere exterior, The Standard Hotel is a charming Fitzroy pub with one of the best beer gardens in Melbourne. Complete with a leafy canopy, their rambling backyard is the perfect spot for a beer and traditional pub fare with mates. Head there on Wednesday or Sunday nights for free live music from local talent. The Standard really does set the standard!

The third Melbourne studio for Barre Body is located on Fitzroy's busy Brunswick Street. You can visit both sides of the Berlin Wall on Corrs Lane in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Berlin Bar is a timeless encapsulation of post-modern German culture – the wall divides plush booths on one side, from war stricken grenade crates on the other. Located in the heart of Melbourne's secret lanes and alleys, Sniders lane is not a place one would expect to find a cosy watering hole by the name of Sister Bella. But indeed you shall find her – at the very end of the lane, up the flight of stairs you shall find the lofty, wood clad surrounds adorned with various paraphernalia, such as skateboards hanging from the roof, makeshift lanterns and kitsch antiquities. The drink and snack offering is simple, but the location is paramount in this chilled out space, where local artists display their wares. The kitchen is open all night.

The Aviary on Victoria Street is the perfect escape from the hustle-bustle of the iconic Asian eatery strip. Open for lunch and dinner, with laid back DJs spinning tunes over the weekend, The Aviary is a lively, contemporary bar and eatery to meet friends for a few bevvies, a bite, or something more substantial. There are a variety of different spaces to enjoy, including a beer garden for summer sipping. Check out the Sunday Soul sessions from 4pm.

Opening its doors on the corner of Chapel and Inkerman Street in 2010, Neighbours Cafe is possibly the friendliest neighbourhood hang out in St Kilda. The former milk bar has transformed into a happy-haven of delicious breakfast/brunch offerings with an Israeli twist, and Roastcraft coffee flowing from the machine. Drop in for a quick takeout or venture into the back courtyard to enjoy the communal vibe and the sunshine.

Mistress of the silhouette, Kit Willow-Podgornik is a national design treasure. Her Malvern Road boutique is clean, sleek and feminine, much likes the lines of the drop dead gorgeous garments. With sumptuous fabrics and stunning embellishments, if we have a special occasion, Willow is where you will find us. It's not cheap, but this is one case where the adage 'you get what you pay for' is undeniably true.

Designer Kit Willow-Podgornik has been delighting fashionistas and celebs at home and abroad for the past decade. The Willow boutique at Chadstone presents the usual luxurious shopping experience and is a must-visit on any trip to the shopping mecca. When you have a craving for steak, and only the best will do, make a beeline for Rockpool Bar & Grill at the Crown Casino complex. Chef Neil Perry has created the ultimate steakhouse using only the finest Australian meats - think Blackmore's Wagyu, Greenhams and Rangers Valley. The various cuts of meat are dry-aged, meaning the steaks are juicy, tender and incredibly flavoursome. There's also plenty of seafood for the non-carnivorous. The accompanying drinks menu, as well as the service and ambience, are similarly stellar, resulting in one of Melbourne's most memorable dining experiences.

Located on the roof above Naked for Satan on Brunswick Street and boasting possibly the best 360 degree view over Fitzroy and wider Melbourne, Naked in the Sky might be more exciting than actually getting your kit off. Join the sky high punters for a tasty Basque feast on the expansive outdoor terrace area, share peasant tapas in the dining room, or perch on the 15-metre-long bar and select your favourite house infused vodka flavours. Summer in the sky can't get much better than this.

Housed in a expansive warehouse space on Malvern Road in Prahran, Hobba is one of our favourite go-to spots for southside brunching, dishing up modern Australian fare for breakfast and lunch.

Neil Perry has done it again! This time he takes on Italian cuisine with the impeccable Rosetta Ristorante. Located in the Crown Casino complex, Rosetta uses top quality ingredients to create simple, authentic and incredibly delicious Italian food - think creamy pasta, fresh seafood and juicy, tender meat. The space is lavishly decorated however the food, wine and service easily matches the high standard seen at Rosetta. Don't miss this - it's up there with Melbourne's best Italian!

Melburnians love a good pizza, and you can cut your own at Ladro on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy. It's a Melbourne institution for a reason.
