The latest addition to Newmarket has locals raving and the Auckland foodie scene well and truly abuzz.
Found in the stunning Mercury building, Newbie is a small but mighty spot serving up some of the most gorgeous eats in town. Brought to us by Roger Liu, the space features bright sunset hues, rustic florals and a modern mural. It’s impossible to miss their fully stocked cabinet, boasting all kinds of treats from loaded doughnuts to salads and house-made lamingtons, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy.
The menu is as gorgeous as its surrounds, crafted by chef Logan Wang it features modern Kiwi classics done right.
Our top pick is the peppered lamb pappardelle. Starring a wicked Medjool date puree with charred baby onion, parsley, jus and black pepper sauce, you’ll find each bite tastier than the last.
Prefer a sweet start to your day? Look no further than the crumbly apple, strawberry and rhubarb. Served on a bed of almond, pumpkin and sunflower seed granola topped with a vanilla coconut whip, it’s not one to miss. Better yet it’s vegan and gluten-free. Winning.
Also worth a mention is the stunning always green bowl. Packed with broccoli, green beans, tofu, quinoa, green pea, preserved lemon, pea pure all doused in a jalapeńo dressing, you’re going to want to have your cameras at the ready for this one.
Take your brunching to the next level and pair your eats with freshly brewed Atomic Coffee or one of their house-made sodas. We recommend the grapefruit and dill creation which perfectly marries the tangy sweetness of the dill with sour grapefruit.
Last but certainly not least, you’ll be able to have your say on their doughnut creations with polls live on their Instagram page every Friday for what will be in the cabinet the following week.
Already proving to be an Auckland staple, you won’t regret paying a visit to Newbie.
