Christmas Day should be about relaxing and spending time with your loved ones, right? So this year, why not ditch the home-based celebrations (along with those pesky cookbooks!) and get the squad together for a festive feast at one of these fine establishments. Just sit back, relax and make merry while someone else does all the work.

Bracu

Escape the rat-race this Christmas and spend your day amongst the olive groves at famed Bombay restaurant, Bracu. Its traquil, rural setting provides the perfect backdrop for a sophisticated holiday menu that includes mouth-watering dishes like duck breast with creamed cabbage, watercress, roasted root vegetables and croissant bread sauce. With a glass of bubbles and olive skincare gift also included in the price, you'll feel like all your Christmases have come at once.

$179 per person, lunch only

The Sugar Club, Sky City

For a festive feast that's quite literally next-level, head up Auckland's tallest building to The Sugar Club. Yes, if the Sky Tower were a Christmas tree then this world-class restaurant is surely the shining star on top. Located 53 floors above ground, not only will you enjoy one of the best views in the city—you'll also be treated to an elegant four-course meal showcasing seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, as well as a glass of champagne. And seeing as it's the one day of the year where over-indulgence is not only acceptable, but actively encouraged, you'd better finish off with one of the Club's coveted cocktails.

$195 per person (excluding cocktails), lunch and dinner

Masu, Sky City

For those who want to steer clear of tradition, there's not a single slice of ham or turkey in sight at the award-winning Masu—which is instead offering diners a scrumptious, Japanese-style Nichiyo Brunch. A continuous selection of tempura, sashimi, maki rolls, Japanese pancakes, salads and other small dishes will be available from the robabta counter—followed by a shared main course and dessert platter. Meri Kurisumasu!

$75 per person, brunch only

Stamford Plaza

Stamford Plaza's epic holiday buffet is a guaranteed food baby in the making. Take your pick of festive faves such as honey-glazed ham with pineapple salsa, turkey breast with cranberry chutney and stuffing, bread and butter pudding with whisky custard and a chocolate Christmas log—as well as salads and antipasto, sushi and seafood stations. And for those who like to start the festivities early, there's also an impressive breakfast buffet available.
