Sometimes it feels like all the best getaways are reserved for couples or families. But what if you want to escape the city for a week with a bunch of mates or extended relos? With winter right around the corner, and the rest of 2024 to sort out those much-needed mini breaks with your mates, it's time to get planning.
In 2024, Airbnb has also made booking group trips even easier, with a host of fun new features in the Airbnb app. Create shared wishlists, start a group chat, and, if you're the one doing the organising, invite your friends to the trip with digital postcards of your destination, illustrated by artists from around the world. Everyone joining the trip will get all the necessary details including the full address, Wi-Fi password, and check-in instructions, which means you do less heavy lifting.
To get you started, we’ve rounded up the best Airbnbs for large groups throughout WA. All of them are an easy drive from Perth and each can house at least six guests. Sorted.
Yallingup Buttercup Farm
Looking for something a little more sophisticated? Round up six of your best mates and prepare to be transported back to the 1950s with a stay at Buttercup Farm. This charming weatherboard cottage has recently been renovated with sleek, custom interiors, elegant furnishings, and a brilliant range of WA-made ceramics, paintings and sculptures, all while maintaining its old-fashioned charisma. When it comes to the exterior, beyond the wrap-around deck you’ll look out onto your own private slice of countryside, with plenty of room for activities. Will you sprawl out on the grass for a group picnic, or set up the ultimate game of backyard cricket? The options are endless.
Yallingup Sunrise Tranquility
You’re absolutely spoilt for choice with all the entertaining zones on offer at this lush four-bedroom Yallingup Airbnb. Cosy up in the beautifully designed lounge or dining space inside, battle out in the games room over foosball or table tennis, or grab a spot in the six seater spa while someone takes charge of the pizza oven before enjoying wines together by the fire.
Yallingup TeySha Retreat
Drenched in natural light and perched over a picturesque dam, TeySha Retreat is the most serene spot for a large group escape. Inside you’ll find four spacious bedrooms and a modern open-plan living area complete with a luxurious fireplace for cosy nights in. While outside the sprawling waterfront deck is the perfect spot for cheese and wine and a spot of stargazing. This breathaking Yallingup home is new to Airbnb, so right now is the best time to lock down dates before everyone else catches on.
Margaret River Nativ Escape
Spend your days relaxing at nearby beaches or hopping through the region's most beautiful cellar doors before retiring to this three-bedroom stay with your nearest and dearest. Superbly located between Margaret River town and Prevelly, Nativ Escape really is the ideal base for every type of explorer. Once you're home though, we guarantee you'll have no problem switching off, relaxing and soaking up the pristine views over a bottle. With three private bedrooms, each with super comfy beds and their own secluded outlook onto the lush garden, we absolutely love this spot for a couples' escape. Plus, you can also bring your fur babies along too, so nobody is left behind.
Yallingup The Nautilus
If it’s good enough for Nicolas Cage (who stayed here when he was filming a movie recently), Taj Burrow’s five-bedroom multi-million dollar architectural masterpiece is certainly good enough for us. As you’d imagine, the luxury home is designed to make the most of the surf break views and has direct access to the beach. It’s also sportin’ some super sleek interiors and all the mod cons you could dream of. Now, we’re not going to sugar coat it, this is a bit of a splurge so maybe save it for something special.
Swan Valley Luxury Swan Valley Farm Stay
It's hard to believe this tranquil four-bedroom farm stay is a mere 20 minutes away from Perth. Head off for morning walks and meet the very friendly alpacas you'll share your stay with. Spend your day exploring the Swan Valley's best wineries and restaurants. Then when the sun starts to set, pour a glass of wine and sink into the polished concrete plunge pool, soaking up the marvellous tree-lined and star-studded views. Don’t worry there’s a gorgeous firepit outside and a cosy fireplace inside you can warm up around afterwards.
Yallingup Yallingup Country Homestead
With enough space for your besties and their besties, this is the place to stay if you’ve got a sizable squad. This luxurious four-bedroom, two-bathroom farmhouse exudes all the elegance you’d expect from a country homestead, with features like a clawfoot tub, beautiful antique finishes, and panoramic nature views. Better yet, an additional self-contained cabin can be included in your booking if you need room for even more guests.
Margaret River Stargazer Lookout
Surrounded by bushland, Stargazer Lookout sits right near the beach, but is still only a short drive to all the cafes and eateries in Margaret River. Boasting an epic private deck complete with a BBQ, stone fireplace and overhead lights, you might find it a little hard to actually leave. There’s also four bedrooms sleeping up to eight people plus spacious open plan living indoors and a stunning tub with a view.
Dunsborough Djurapin
Meaning ‘happy’ in Nyoongar, Djurapin well and truly gives all the feel-good holiday vibes. Located 50m from the beach and with enough room for eight guests, the art-luxe home is an absolutely stunning choice for a group getaway down south. For us though, it's the gorg outdoor entertaining space, complete with a spacious jacuzzi that really sells it. Bubbles in hand, bubbles on in the spa—yes, this is living.
Margaret River Redgate Sidings
Just a short drive from Margaret River you'll find Redgate Sidings, a light and airy home built around a 1910 train carriage and surrounded by a lush karri tree forest. With four bedrooms and plenty of living space to spread out in, it's great for a group getaway—especially when you take into account the large deck, bbq and basketball hoop.
