It’s the perfect time of year for a romantic retreat. The silly season’s madness is yet to kick in, and the budgets aren’t yet blown after all those Christmas pressies.
Plus, if you are anything like us, the ‘quiet’ season was as far from quiet as the south pole is from a polar bear. We need a recoup, stat. And there simply isn’t any better way to recharge those batteries than with a romantic few nights away. Pop the out-of-office on, turn off those notifications and spend some quality time focusing on the important things in life. Eating, drinking and sleeping. Oh, and each other of course.
We’ve pulled together a list you won’t find anywhere else. There are some seriously romantic finds in here and no matter what your style; we have you covered.
Your special someone will be in for a treat, just don’t forget the bubbles… and the ring if it’s THAT much of a romantic occasion. You can never be too prepared.
Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef
“Where the outback meets the reef” is the perfect tagline for this unique romantic retreat. As a member of Luxury Lodges of Australia, you’ll be sure to find no stone unturned when it comes to creature comforts at Sal Salis. Gaze out and watch the sunset turn to a sky blazing with stars from your own private beach safari tent. La Forêt Enchantée
This is one of the best-kept secrets in the South West for romantics. La Forêt Enchantée is a dreamy destination filled with magic on the banks of the Margaret River. It’s a breathtaking moment when you enter through the wrought iron gates and through the property’s very own Arc De Triomphe. Set within 10 acres of native bush and renaissance inspired gardens; you’ll feel like you have been whisked off in a fairy-tale among the lush greenery, bubbling fountains, and sweeping terraces. The icing on the cake is the two secluded cabins to choose from, resplendent with luxurious furnishings and marble bathrooms. Want even more romance? Why not add on a private chef for the evening, red roses and bubbles on arrival or a sensual spa treatment for two? Or you could fly in by helicopter—they have a love heart shaped helipad ready for you.

If it gets nippy, you’ve got the fireplace, a warming glass of wine and each other to keep you warm before bed beckons.
The Premier Mill Hotel
While the Wheatbelt is not likely high on your list for a romantic getaway, it’s time to change that. Wildflowers are ablaze and the Public Silo Trail is a drawcard for art lovers, so now is the perfect time to be adventurous. The Premier Mill Hotel in Katanning has transformed the town and truly is one of the most unique boutique hotels you’ll ever visit. Built on the site of the town’s old mill, the hotel harks back to the building’s heritage at every twist and turn. Take your pick from 22 rooms set inside old grain silos, packing rooms, and workspaces where busy hands were kept occupied with machinery from times gone by. The foyer is framed by the massive old steam boiler and the hotel’s intimate underground bar, the Cordial Bar, gets its name from the old cordial factory that also used to operate on-site. With soft mood lighting and one of the comfiest hotel beds around, it’s the perfect spot for some romance.
